Dedicated TU bots, and more

Teamups are now much rarer drops, so requesting them from alliance-mates should actually be considered now.

CONSIDERATIONS
- TUAP should always be low on the priority list during a match. TUs are now limited, so you don't want to spend them too quickly. Denying TU from the AI is also of limited effectiveness, especially since the AI can only use one TU (making all TUAP for the AI harmless after they use it).
- TUs with low AP cost are very nice, since as mentioned before, TUAP is low-priority.
- TUs should be sent from characters with good abilities, but who are rarely used. Low patrol times is also a plus.

Good level-independent single-color TU bots to send (sorted by patrol time):
- 5 green Juggernaut, cascade, 4h
- 5 blue Black Widow (1*), stun, 6h
- 2 purple OBW (2*), AP steal, 12h
- 5 yellow Thor (2*/3*), cascade, 12h/24h
- 1 yellow IM40, AP gen, 16h
- 5 blue Doctor Doom, cascade, 16h
- Red-only Magneto (3*), cascade, 24h
- Black-only X-Force, cascade, 24h

Other low-patrol-time or low-use characters to consider (assume maxed):
- 2* Wolverine, 8h. Generally low-use after attaining higher-tier 2*. All abilities are useful, especially green to feed Daken blues.
- 2* Daken, 8h. Guaranteed to be blue. Level 5 Chemical Reaction hurts when strike tiles are on the board.
- 2* Ares, 8h. All abilities useful, especially Sunder on a regenerator.
- GSBW, 16h. Generally low-use after attaining higher-tier 3*. All abilities useful.
- Deadpool, 24h. Whales w/points may be the best TU in the game, and ALOTT is cheap.

Comments

  • I'd also consider:
    5 greentile.png 1* Storm 14AP + Cascade generation.
    5 purpletile.png 2* Mag
    2 yellowtile.png IM 40 , if you need blue.
    --
2* Ares greentile.png is situational: not as useful if you've got a use for your green.

IM 40 cannot give Recharge as a Team-Up since it self-stuns. Ares can only drop Onslaught since Rampage and Sunder depend on/do self-damage.
GSBW team-ups are prohibitively costly except Deceptive tactics. Same for Whales. Generally, you can fire a TUp that costs up to 11-12 AP in a prolonged match and a TUp that costs up to 8-9 AP in a regular match.
You forgot Star-Spangled Avenger, Peacemaker, Symbiote Snare, Retribution, Hypersonic Punch, Wind Storm, Fireball, Psi-Katana, Godlike Power, Thunderclap, Illusions, Power Of Attorney, etc.
  • I have built a 3 purpletile.png covered level 15 OBW just for sending out on patrol (I am working on a second). I personally wouldn't recomend a 2 purpletile.png covered OBW, as the savings isn't that much, and stealing black is pretty useful even if you can't use it yourself (Rage of Panther and Surgical Strike).

Thanks for starting this list, as I was looking to start the exact same thing. I most likely will build one more patroller (as you can only have 3), so I still need to decide on whom that will be.

If I wasn't starved for ISO, I would look into the 3* options, so I may just go with a pure bluetile.png Modern Black Widow or purpletile.png iMags.

I believe those are level-dependent. Might be why he didn't include them since he said level-independent TUs.

Oh, I must have missed the level-independent part. Still, Retribution cares about covers, not levels (even base level cover-maxed Retribution kills anyone at 40% health), and Punch/Wind Storm are stuns; Fireball returns 2 red AP for possibly removing 2 Daken strike tiles. Thunderclap does piddling damage even when maxed, its value is in adding 4 green tiles. Power Of Attorney, same, cascades, its damage is quite negligible (my maxed and buffed Shulkie does what, 2,4k damage on red?).

Retribution I agree with, though it is a rarer cover and the recovery time is pretty large. Illusions is decent, especially after you've been farming AP and polarizing the overall board.

Thunderclap and Unstoppable Crash cost the same AP, but Crash is better in most cases. Same for why you wouldn't use Power of Attorney, never minding the rarity of covers. Crash provides more benefits vs fireball. It's just less situational, more utility.

Wind Storm's stun is weak compared to MBW, 11AP vs 9 AP, 4 turns single target vs that + 1 extra round for everyone.

GSBW's 6 placed green for 11 AP is better if you need green; otherwise weaker than MNNow's 5 placed Blue for 9 AP.

Hypersonic punch? Are you kidding me?

My top 5 would probably be:
    1. Jug greenflag.png
    2. OBW purpleflag.png
    3. MNMag purpleflag.png
    4. Thor yellowflag.png
    5. tossup CMags redflag.png or Loki purpleflag.png

Thor ranks lower because of the high cost. I honestly don't get to use Loki purpleflag.png that much, so haven't seen the results.

My top 5 looks very similar except that I would include Wind Storm (maxed), Widow's Sting and Symbiote Snare (maxed).
Hypersonic Punch wants levels but it's a very strong ability.
Thunder Strike is quite expensive at 12 AP. Illusions is nice but not 100% reliable.

On the subject of Team Ups you can't get, I'd hazard a guess that X-Force's yellow would be in that list (So giving out a maxed X-force would be really kind, but pretty dumb!) and Jugg's red I've never gotten and I often ask for Jugg's from my alliance mates.

I feel like there's very little reason to ever go into a battle with team ups that aren't OBW purple, Jugg green, and whatever you've got lying around
  • PVP seems to have diminished TU drop-rate, but it seems to be ok in PVE. Can anyone confirm this?
