1st Anniversary Thanks and Thoughts for 2nd

First things first, thank you for an enjoyable and profitable week. Lots of covers, lots of iso, lots of progress for a transitioner. All in all, solid A for the week.

That said, there is always room for improvement and here are my thoughts for next year's anniversary celebration.

General Items

Anniversary tokens were great. Double Iso was great. Take the extra 5 seconds to proof the prizes. This was a big deal week and there is no reason that the prizes from the last time the event was run should have been put in. That said, your make up for it was outstanding.

PvP

No complaints about people's votes for events. Liked the idea of a mini-season. That said, the 10 packs require about 400 points per event in the season and 1000 points here. In fact, the highest progression reward in the season requires 750 per event. Something to consider, as scaling seems a bit off to me, but you have the internal numbers.

Lightning Rounds

20 person brackets were great. The anniversary tokens for top 5 incredible. While I really enjoyed Thor as a character, playing with only 1 featured character for 24 straight times was exhausting and tedious. I suggest make this a people's vote for 6 characters that rotate. To keep it balanced, make everybody play that event with a level 100 5/4/4 loaner instead of their own

PvE

Everybody loves Deadpool vs. (need to add new characters for next time though). Heroic:Venom, not so much, especially with a group of low tier, non-synergistic 3 stars. This was the place for Thor. Give everybody in the Heroic a level 100 5/4/4 Thor as a loaner for the event. It would have been a test run against a broad variety of goons without facing her mirror image every battle

As I said at the top, it was a wonderful week. Thank you again. My 3 suggestions for improving the second anniversary are in blue above. If anybody has any other thoughts, please add them in

Very well said. I agree whole-heartedly. They put a lot of thought and effort into this week. They asked for the players input and implemented it. Yes, there were some snags but overall, I thoroughly enjoyed it this week. I had been in a casual alliance for about 8 weeks before this. I had to go back to an old alliance because I wanted icon_devildino.png I had a blast and I'll definitely be playing more again. I really hope that the devs learned from this and keep improving a great game.

Well, as for me, I loved it. I said before it even started that it would be great. So glad I was right icon_e_biggrin.gif . It wasn't all perfect, but it was still an awesome week!

However, a Lot of others didn't think so. Some people whined, fussed, cussed, complained, and criticized D3 relentlessly. icon_e_sad.gif
Yet some of those same people are now posting how pleased they were with the past week, and how much they enjoyed it.
And no one, Not One Single person has apologized to D3 for their previous behavior.

So I'll do it for them.
To D3: I would like to apologize on behalf of certain derogatory and negative comments made to you about the anniversary, (most before it even began). For most players, this past week was very well done. Thank you to D3, ICEIX, Will, Hi-Fi, and others for all the work you guys/gals put in, [despite the fact some of you guys took a vacation to NYCC for part of the Anniversary icon_lol.gif , (I am so jealous of everyone that got to go, unfortunately I was on a very important assignment at the time)], and basically for a very enjoyable anniversary week. I ask that you continue to offer events such as these through out the future. Thank you again. icon_e_wink.gif

  • I'm not going to comment over anything that's just 'more free stuff' because it's like that ad where a guy asked a bunch of kids whether they want a big house or a small house. Of course to players bigger is always better but I'm sure D3 isn't in the habit of giving away free stuff. So considering the stuff that isn't just more free stuff, I think the anniversary tokens are a good idea. It's sort of a high risk high reward at the base price (500) and the discount is deep enough to make people take their chances, though from previous experience what players think about the value of tokens often has little to do with reality. Still, I'd find it very hard to believe if anniversary tokens somehow sold worse than the normal tokens.

I don't know if you can lump the Thor LRs with anniversary, but overall the Thor LRs are far more interesting than the normal ones even wtihout the 'free stuff for 20 man brackets'. Perhaps the LR should be restructured this way with the #1 getting 1 LR token (which should have better than normal odds, similar to an anniversary token)? While I was opening my 180 heroic tokens since the new heroes went in I realize that you can give away an awful a lot of tokens without actually giving up anything useful because trying to pull a hero you need from tokens is crazy talk, but it's still pretty exciting to have a lot of tokens to open even if you know the chance of getting anyone in particular you need is low. Would the game be better if we're given a relatively large number of tokens instead of guaranteed covers, or some combination of both?

The anniversary was tons of fun, and I enjoyed it very much. Thank you for the effort you put into it. My criticisms about the lack of anniversary tokens in CA and the Heroic were validated by the admission that is was an oversight, and you more than made up for it with the LRs.

My criticisms of adding one of the least favorite PvEs to the Anniversary (Heroic) and one of the least wanted rewards in CA (Rags) I stand by, since it wouldn't have been too difficult to make the PvE the much lauded Gauntlet and put a mid tier 3* as the CA award.

But all in all, it was the best week I ever had in MPQ and hope that some of the new material (Bracketed LRs, better LR rewards, better token rewards, Fully covered new characters in LRs) become permanent.

    Thanks again.
