Transition for 2's to 3's? An idea.

So I've finally finished transitioning to 3's, and I have to say, what a pita, and I don't mean the bread. Now that I have a few three star covers maxed (and can actually use them), the game is so much more fun again as I can mix and match a little.

Problem: I need to score about 600 points in pvp to get top 100 for a guild by the end of the season, and I'm taking away 3* covers from those who need them.

Solution: Why don't you take the older characters that are being phased out of tokens next season, and run a separate non-ranking pvp with them alongside all the others? Make the progression awards older 3's, or simply worse rewards overall than the regular pvps. Perhaps don't give any HP out. In other words, discourage these from being participated in by anyone who has those covers. Take the cover rewards for those pvp's back to your original cover reward system before alliances came out. Don't reward any 4 covers for the top post, maybe just a little more iso.

The entire point is to give a pvp 2 get some three covers for those transitioning from 2's. Keep all the newer season based pvp's the newer covers, or at least the one's that aren't phased out of tokens for the season. This should really help the transitioning two's and make the game more fun!

  • I see your idea and it is nice but it does has some flaws in it.

    1. The character rolled out of the tokens will not always be "****" ones or the ones that we use less.

    2. I do not think there is such thing as an "old 3*" according to D3. I mean we just had Spiderman as a reward in the previous PVE and he is one of the useless heroes out there in 3* land.

    3. Running such an event will basically hand out free 3* to everyone. So this will not just help the 3* transition, it will flood people with covers and ISO. Not to mention that most people will stop competing or buying tokens and will just wait for characters to get out of tokens and be handed out.

There is already such an event and it is called PVE. You have progression 3* cover rewards. You can argue that they are unreachable by the casual player, but they are reachable if you are willing to put an effort into it.
  • I really like the idea of multiple PVP's in which you can ONLY enter one. I actually like a modification of the idea slightly better. Three PVP's with the same rewards at the same time in which you can only enter one of the three. One PVP you can only use 1*'s (the rest are locked out), one PVP you can only use 1* or 2* (3* and 4* locked out), and one PVP in which you can use any character. To make up for the level of difficulty, I would recommend more ISO and HP rewards for based on the # of *'s available for that PVP. This would encourage people with more advanced rosters to play in the harder PVP's. More importantly, transitioning players (even without a MMR change) would be competing for placement with primarily players of similar rosters.

Edit - meant as a special PvP, not every PvP.

    Better idea's:
#1 make top 50 get 2 3* covers from PVP. Make top 10 get 3 covers.
#2 make the Heroic tokens similar to the Anniversary tokens. Take out some of the 2* and add in big ISO and HP as rewards and increase the odds to 40% of something other than a 2*.
#3 keep the double ISO up and double the ISO they give when people buy ISO, and let players buy iso with HP. This is such a bad investment right now.

    Results:
#1 more people will earn the 1 extra 3* cover. They will be happier more satisfied customers, Transition teams will be more willing to shield Hop to get to top 50 which will increase sales of HP and increase revenue.

#2 Heroic tokens will be worth a couple of daily deals and maybe some 10-42 packs. Increasing the odds makes people more likely to use HP on them. More heroic tokens will be purchased, more 3* given out, more HP sold which will increase revenue.

#3 In 3* land the biggest issue is building enough ISO to level you 3* to usable let alone 166. double the ISO is the good will to let people level there new characters and by doubleing the amount in the purchase it might make people actually buy ISO. Also by letting people buy ISO with HP means more players wil level their characters, but run lower on HP hence more HP sales more revenue for D3.

I can make D3 a lot of money!! icon_e_biggrin.gif Want to pay me 100k per year to come work for you?

Some outstanding ideas in here. The caveat being that it needs to make D3P more money than the current system which is understandable. The game is free afterall.

I am one of those who spend, not much...maybe 2 days wages in total over half a year playing off and on(previously more off than on), because I live in Australia so the events always end when I am at work and I don't have that much free time. With some patience I was able to maximize the rewards I got for the money I spent. Like buying discounted single tokens every day instead of a 10 or 40 pack. Even then it has been a massive grind. I can't imagine how it'll be for those that don't pay anything but the time they spend is just as valuable as the money I spent to D3P.

I don't see D3P making the transition any easier until they release more 4* and/or increase the level cap by quite a bit. I am also finding 3* land (I have four 3** characters in the 90s and 100s) to be more competitive than 2*. I am coming up against heaps of guys with monster rosters.
