PVP - 25 or Less Points Only?

Hello everyone,

I have been running into an increasingly more noticeable issue over the past maybe week or two of PVP events in MPQ and was wondering if anyone else was experiencing the same thing. In short, it has become harder and harder for me to find any PvP matches where the opponent is worth more than 25 points.
Now, it is reasonable to me if someone gets high enough in a roster that the majority of people will have less points than you, hence it it would be harder to fight people of higher value. However, in the Weapon Tex-Mex event from a couple days ago, people had values of over two thousand and I was having trouble finding people to fight above my point value when I was under 700. Not only has it been harder to get high ranks in events because of this, but it has become way too much of a time investment just to get to the progression rewards. Right now in the current Combined Arms event, I am rank 250 at 305 points, with the top 10 ranging from 650 to 1k already and, having just skipped 25 nodes just now and only getting two nodes over 24 (a 26 and 28), I feel that either this might be a glitch, or some sort of calculation problem. Maybe the server is not updating my rank and is still matching me with people valued where I was rather than where I am?
I do not mind that other people are willing to put in such high values, but when I am already running into mostly nodes valued at 22 and continuing to drop even lower, it does not simply become an issue of me not having the levels needed or the focus, but rather I don't think I could stomach the sheer amount of time it would take not only to fight low valued opponents, but face the potential high point loss in retaliations.
Has anyone else been running into this problem?

your mmr might not be high enough to see higher value targets or could be that higher point targets could be shielded.
  • Tanking can cause you to see low point opponents. However in this event I have over 1k and hitting skip would show people rank around 500 and only worth 3 points each. Hours later it fixed itself.

Maybe, but I'm not quite sure where I stand with my MMR myself though. It's weird though, almost all of my opponents are extremely low level for this current event, many having one cover three starred characters and the like.

I have not done any tanking though. If anything I keep trying to set up teams to increase the odds of surviving attacks.

I have had the same issue for about 2 weeks - makes the PvP climb take twice as long

Though people with 100 points seem to have no problem finding and hitting me for a 40 point loss!

If you pass a MMR bucket (e.g. like the one at 600 where you start to see maxed 3*s regardless), you may need to skip at least a half dozen times or so in order to clear out your queue before higher point matches appear

Currently I'm having to skip 25-30 times just to find 26-28 point nodes. That works for this week, with the extra ISO and all, but I don't think that will be as worthwhile after everything resets.

25-30 times? Per match? My goodness that is a lot of wasted ISO. Consider the levels you could put on characters if you just settled a bit. I mean, don't attack 5 point nodes, but settle for the occasional 20 pointer.

Oh, definitely. I agree. I mostly did it while I had the moment just to see just how bad the back up was. At this point I just play the occasional node until things resolve themselves. I'm hoping as the event closes I'll be able to see higher valued matches, but still.
  • Yes, this is something that has definitely changed in the last week. I don't tank, and I use three level 166 characters. By the time I'm around 400, it becomes near impossible to find games over 30 points (with the exception of the occasional Sentry/Daken or Sentry/Hood team). I used to be able to find 30+ teams the whole game regardless of how many points I have (I usually hit 800+).
  • this has been happening to me for like, a month....please don't tell me my MMR is "wrong" for a whole month. I used to be able to go from 400-600 pretty easily, but now since everyone is only worth 20 pts its become hard for no real reason. And I always check if people are shielded around my position, and they never are(except for the odd duck who shields at 150th place). MPQ really needs to look at the MMR ratings or something...

Well, I'm consistently getting hit for 32-35 points on defense so somebody's sure as hell getting more than 25 points.

I'm right there with you. I tanked once because everyone was telling me that I HAD to do it as a 2* transition player. Had this happen and figured maybe if I just don't tank again it would fix itself for me. Ever since then, I've been having this problem despite not tanking anymore. Once I hit ~450, I have to nickel and dime my way up into the 600/700s against a bunch of teams worth, on average, about 18 points.

This is an issue for me too. It just comes and goes. Happened like 20 days ago and it's happening in CP now too. It starts even when I'm quite low in the ranking and just started, then as I (painfully slowly) climb up and get closer to the top, I can see a lot of players in the top 10 with 200 or more points than I, unshielded. Yet, I never get to see them in battle. When lucky, I get to see someone with 20 points more than I, but most of the time, I see only people below me, no matter how much Iso I spend in skipping. Worse thing is that it seems to occur only to me (or a subset of players), as I just got hit by a player with 400 points less than I.
  • Well I have had a similar experience this past month as well. I used to get to do 1 fight at the start of the event and then wait 1 day or even 2 before I started pushing in order to be able to fight those 40+ matches and climb faster. I used to get to 300pts very fast fighting only 30-40 pointers. The same strategy does not work now. Although I see some 30-40 pointers at the beginning, when I reach 150-200 pts everything comes down to ~20 and lucky 25+ points. It is weird but it is harder to climb now than before.
  • I'm wondering if they didn't add in some sort of metric that showed too many people were only playing at the end of a PVP. So to encourage last minute jumpers to play earlier in the pvp, they make it harder to climb. This gives more weight to the people who have been playing throughout the pvp.

My normal match used to be around 20-30 points. Now it's usually around 15-22 pts, but generally ramps up easier until I hit that group of people where only the x-forces are unshielded.

I have the same problem. I have a decent roster (3* with level around 100-140). Normally I would only look for 30+ matches with 3* with about the same level. However in the last event I only saw 2* rosters and they were only worth 20-25 points. Also when I reached 550 points I only saw 166 teams (but still not worth much points).

Ditto here, since season one I've been playing nodes worth about 21 points on average from 200 points to 600 points. Some of my teammates noticed that the low point nodes are more common for them in their climb.

Also like Killinstinct (above), MMR seemed to change in a different way this season: the 166 wall for my 3* transition team was hit immediately after 500 points, never saw it last season before 600 points. This is my bigger concern. as the 600 point HP was pretty essential to be able to shield and buy new roster slots. I'm hoping that was a one-time thing.

I'd be really happy with viable 25 point matches myself. The only time I come across anything worth more than 20 points is when my MMR randomly decides to start pitting me against walls of maxed 3*s with a roster that has one 3* at lvl 120 max.

Yeah, I've been having this problem for weeks. I get a couple of 30-pointers right when I start, but then before I even reach 200, all the nodes come down to 18-25 points and stay there for most of the event. It's like that in Trial By Combat right now, even though I've barely passed 300 points and no one above me is shielded.
  • I have been playing since Dec '13 and whether tanking or not, there has never been any time for me where a match above 25 points wasn't a rarity. In fact, as I was learning the game, it was baffling to me to see people talk about "don't fight battles below 20 points" (this was before skip tax) because that was 1 in 100 matches offered to me

In fact, if anything, it's gotten MORE common to see higher-point battles as time goes on

    MMR is messed up
