respec token tournament

I know there has been much discussion over respecing. Would you guys show interest in a tournament that offered respecing tokens. I think it would make sense if it allowed you to remove a cover. That way you would still have wait until you actually got the cover you were waiting for. I know I've been annoyed that I've invested tons of time and iso into a character, then they decide to change them. I understand they need to make these changes so I thought this would be a fair way to change the characters you didn't know you screwed up.

  • I think having a mission you have to complete would be fine, but not a tournament...at least, not something that isn't easily available to whoever needs it.

I wouldn't mind them putting them as low rank progression rewards...but depending on what they did I may be totally against them. A much better system would be simply to allow you to add a cover of another color at the cost of one of your current colors when at max. That way no issues with ISO or earning green rags and turning into red ones etc. I don't think a token should be necessary for that.

Edit: also, they could make it so it counts as selling the cover..what u would have had to do otherwise.
  • Would love for them to replace some of these mission reward health packs.
  • If they add respecting into the game i fully expect it to cost HP (as it should) now the question is what would a part over amount be. 250 per cover you wish to remove?

Also I'm sure a lot of people wouldn't be so happy to lose the levels of their characters either since the number of covers directly translate to level caps.

It shouldn't cost anything, especially the way the devs are constantly nerfing powers.

I was building my cStorm 3/5/5 and had her at 3/5/4 waiting for that last yellow for quite awhile. I trashed at least 4 greens along the way. Then they totally nerfed her yellow and now have her at 4/5/4.

The next time I get a green or yellow, I should simply be able to trade it for another slot I already have. If I win a green cover and want to take her to 5 greens, I would have to reduce either the blue or yellow by one in order to do it. Just bring up a screen with a minus sign next to the skill I want to reduce and apply the new cover accordingly. All done.

I think they should make it so that you need to have or purchase with HP the cover you want to add. Then you select the ability you want to be lowered to add the new cover.
  • Until they say otherwise, I think the devs expect us (or hoped we would) make multiple characters with different builds. That way we need to buy more cover space.

That's my only rationale for why you can't respec or can't even see what a characters powers do at level 5 (when it is currently at 3 or below) in-game.

With the insane amount of ISO required to level characters, combined with the difficulty in getting rare cards, multiple builds are not the solution (especially when devs nerf powers out from under us). If that's the goal, then my only response would be to "stop trying to make multiple builds happen. It's not going to happen."
  • I have absolutely no doubt that the issue isn't figuring out the mechanic they want to use, but figuring out a UI that will work on mobile, tablet, and PC. Mostly mobile. With an absolute minimum of text / explanation, that's still clear what is going on. Any text has to be translated into however many languages they're supporting, text boxes adjusted for each language, etc. so that's expensive. And respec is not one of those things that's inherently obvious.

You want to get respec? Mock up some screens. Test them on someone who is new to the game or doesn't even play. If they can understand what's going on, you have good screens. Otherwise, you'll realize the problems they're most likely having in creating a usable respec system.
  • I don't really care about respec, but they should at least provide the user with the information to make an informed choice on what levels to pursue.

I find it hard to believe that space or scalability would be an issue when you are talking about adding text. Each character has 5-6 seperate screens of information when you click on them. Each power/ability has it's own screen. You can easily tuck the information of each level of their power up in that space. It wouldn't be confusing either, because each filled in dot represents what power level they are at.

Although, if you have a small team of people working, I can see how this issue would be pushed way to the back on the 'to do' list.

I hear you, but the issue for me is, I knew what level 5 of cStorm's yellow gave me and I made the informed choice that was how I was going to build her. I dumped lots of iso and trashed many greens along the way. I had her at 3/5/4. Then they go and make the yellow ability next to useless and nowhere near what it was when I made my informed choice. It's these types of decisions that mandate the re-specing option. They've nerfed many abilities along the way (Loki, Venom, heck even Hawkeye). You never know when that ability you invested hard in is going to get turned to rubbish overnight.
  • I hear ya on that one as I also did a similar thing. But the truth is that her ability was a bit overpowered (in relation to other 2 star characters). It's also not like that nerf left her useless, she's still one of the better 2 star characters even though her yellow has been reduced to an annoyance.

Also, I was able to win many rewards/prizes using her while she was 'overpowered'. So, it's not like I (and most of us) didn't benefit from it for a few months.
