I see no Luke Cage or Iron Fist. I call shenanigans and demand a recount! How dare my two pet characters not show up even tho they aren't super popular in the grand scheme of things. I'm shocked! Shocked that anyone as a different opinion than I do!

People I wanted to add to this poll: Bishop, Cable, Colossus, Cyclops, Daredevil, Gambit, Psylocke, Rogue, Sabretooth, She-Hulk, Silver surfer. And there are many that got few votes, or fewer mentions. But I stuck to the ones that seemed to get the most discussion.

I left off Green Goblin. He's obviously going to be introduced at some point, after numerous in game mentions.

I do dig me some Thanos, but when you look at who is already in the game power wise, Thor is far and away the most powerful, and Thanos can take him (at least in canon). If they bring in a Thanos, or a Sentry or a whoever on the super duper alpha power list, they will be a hollow shell of their character in the game or totally unbalancing.

I think this poll is actually based on the results of all the other polls in threads for the last few days. This, in a way, seems to be the run off.

I keep mention Thanos due to the 2014 marvel movie set up coming spoiler alert dybfsyhvddgcxdg. Thanos is the big baddie so you just know at some point late feb early march we could be seeing lots of new cosmic guys. Might as well sneek a few in now cough drax rocket raccoon nova Groot cough

Again, Captain America 2 (where the villain is Winter Soldier, who is Bucky Barnes in Marvel canon) and the next X-Men movie come out next year.

If we don't see a new Cap, and/or new Wolvie within the next 6 months, I'll eat my hat.*

Also, keep in mind the game itself is based on the Dark Reign storyline from the 2009 Marvel Comics run, where Emma Frost, Namor, and Iron Patriot are major characters. Given that there is already an Iron Man model that has been reskinned once (for Model 40) I'd be shocked if we didn't see an Iron Patriot added to the mix within the next 6 months either. Given the way the Hulk event ended with Osborn giving orders to Daken, maybe we'll also see an alternate version of Frank as well

So in conclusion, yes, Howard the Duck is a lock for the next 3-star.

And nightcrawler would be so intresting and mysterious like mystique would be to! They woukd bring a nice edge to the game.

Honestly I'm just happy people nowadays know that the likes of Deadpool and the Scarlet Witch exist.

So if I'm not mistaken, I see Scarlet Witch on 2 of the covers for other character (Rag and BW Orig) With regards to copyright issues and all that, I wouldn't be surprised if she is one of the upcoming characters. Especially since there is a bit of an imbalance between the xys and the xxs

Ragnarok: I think the first one from the left is the Thing?, then Ms. Marvel, no idea who the third is, and Scarlet Witch at the end
Thor: Odin
Doom: Black Panther, the Thing, Human Torch and Colossus
OBW: Jean Grey and Scarlet Witch
Moonstone: Iron Patriot
xfWolvie: Domino?

The old Asgardian on Thor's cover is actually future-Thor, from the rather-good God Butcher/Godbomb story.
That story has both future-Thor and past-Thor, and they're both very fun but I d' rather see new characters than new versions - would have made a perfect 3* and 1* pair, though...

I think its interesting that the most likely characters aren't there - i.e. Green Goblin or Iron Patriot or the big bad guy (don't know how to do spoiler printing so I won't name him/her).

Deadpool makes sense based on the comics but that would require going into secret invasion. Cyclops and Emma frost are most likely to give us more x-men than storm and wolverine.
