Sale!

Instead of a percentage off though, it's "bonus" HP or iso.

I haven't crunched the numbers yet - I'm wondering if this isn't as cost-effective as the other kinds of sales.

Also, have they ever done a sale like this before? If not, I wonder if this is a test to see how this kind of sale generates revenue compared to the other. Hm.

  • those who played since day1, I would also like to know how often they have a sale like this for iOS user?

They've never cut the price of their iAP HP and ISO blocks on iOS - their sales always consist of extra in-game currency. They have never not done a sale like this before.

I have never spent money on the game so I get targeted sales offers every week or so. I do not know how often they come up once you hand over a few bucks.

    Edit: Android reference removed.

Not true. Around the introduction of Deadpool, all ISO and HP packs were discounted somewhere between 20 and 30 percent on Android.

This is the one I was thinking of - that's the only sale that I remember (haven't been playing as long as others).

I want to say it was 20% - I'll try crunching the numbers later and see if this sale is a better/worse value.

Although I'll still probably take advantage of it, as sales are pretty rare anyway.
  • Hero Points are rarely on sale, so if you need them now is the time. If you buy iso-8 this is a decent time to buy it.

I was under the impression this is never, ever a good idea. Ever.

Your impression is correct. The worst $$-per-time investment in this game by far.

If one plays 3 min for every battle, and earns an average of 250 iso a battle, that's 5000 per hour. At 99.99 you can purchase 93,600 iso. If you maintain the rate of 250 iso every 3 minutes you would need more than 18 hours to earn that amount.

If instead you work 18 hours of overtime, if you earn $20 an hour after tax, that's $360. So you apply $99.99 for 93,600 iso to make up for lost time in-game and you still have $260 for other things. Some people might want to do something else with $99.99 but that's okay.

If you like the game, it's not a bad deal if you happen to have the extra cash.
  • You can only grind Iso when there is Iso available in the events.

The more I could grind in 24h was 55K. That included the rewards at the end of the events.

Iso is still too expensive even if the price dropped.

But for those who will want to instamax Lady Thor, these sales could be a good opportunity.

Why play the game at all when you can go to work instead?

I wonder if the people at Demiurge are getting paid in ISO.

One of the most underhanded, dubious tricks I've ever heard of - and this is in a Free-to-Play game, for crying out loud; a genre dedicated to underhanded, dubious tricks - was learning that sales in this game only target people who haven't spent money already. So if you put down a couple bucks just to test the waters, you have screwed yourself out of lots of savings later. That is just straight up evil.

Glad to learn that at least this sale is for everyone.

Havent targeted sales been a thing for a long time now? Im pretty sure sites like amazon do it all the time.

Lovely this happens the day after I buy HP. Oh well, I got an X-Force cover out of it at least.

the sale is a bit underwhelming but it's still nice of them to do all this stuff for the anniversary
  • Let's see how much HP the Anniversary Pack will cost...

On androind it seems to be a 20% in increase in Hp. $1.99 would get you 200, but with the Sale, you get 240 Hp. $4.99 would get you 600, now it gets you 720. Not a bad deal IMO. Not sure if iso sale amounts are similar since I didn't really bother to look at it.

Because I don't buy ISO when I have time to play, but when I am busy with work I supplement my lost time in-game with purchased ISO and HP. I've been taking it easy lately so I've done little playing and I haven't spent a dime on MPQ in months
  • Only 20% increase, which is weaker than the 30% discount during summer. I'll wait for a possible "winter" sale. Don't really need HP ATM anyway.
