I Don't Know What I Will Do After I've Conquered MPQ.

I was struck by a realization not too long ago that I'm on a fast-track to "beating" MPQ.
And by beating, obviously, I mean earning every character in the game (that counts--looking at you Devil Dinosaur) and maxing them out.
About four months ago for a three-month lull I had absolutely no progression in my roster while doing some reforming, getting rid of 3's I'd never get the covers for, and regaining my 1's while building my 2's.
Then it hit me: "Duh, the game cascades upon itself." Which is nothing new for anybody who has read the tips and guides section of the forum. "1's get you 2's, 2's get you 3's," so on. Duh.

What struck me about that is how quickly one goes about leveling up characters and earning new ones with simple regular daily play.
It took me a year to earn and near-max every 1- and 2-star character in the game.
In all honesty, it should only take a fresh start-up six months to max their 1-stars and get every 2- while being near to maxing out a few of them--laying the groundwork to quickly max out the other 2's.

What I'm getting at is that the rewards to snowball, and leveling up characters gets easier and easier the stronger you get. Eventually one should probably be able to level up a whole three 3-stars with all the ISO-8 rewards and sold covers per season at that level, shouldn't one? And chocking (chalk-ing not choke-ing) it up to luck, 4-stars come around enough every now and again through packs that you can actually kind of depend on them (at least to me) and not have to worry about finishing #1 in everything (unless it's for the Goddess of Thunder-- I fear the cans of butt-whup that are going to be opened in Season VII for the right to wield her unmerciful doomy ... doom-bringing power).

Since it's just a matter of time until we (semi-MPQ-vets) all have all (current roster) covers and all of them maxed, what will/would you all do once you've done almost literally everything there is to do in the game?

I'm not sure if this game would be fun anymore if there weren't anybody to beat, and instead I was the one to beat.

Okay. I might have a little fun defeating EVERY other single player in MPQ, not counting other maxed players. (Elite league anyone?)

But anyway ...

What do you envision yourself doing once you topple those who sit above?
406px-ThoseWhoSitAboveInShadow.jpg

Me? Probably just play for rewards and then just kind of stop until something new comes up. And then stop again. Actually, come to think of it, that's more or less exactly what every literal big-wick in the comics do as well: NOTHING. Until there is something until there is nothing again.

I just don't like thinking of the days where I don't have somebody bigger and badder to beat. Sure, Wolverine, IW, and NF could end worlds, but that's only if you let them get the AP; and there are boosts (lots of boosts) for that. ("I can beat a 4-star ... once ... with 3+ all with 3+ purpletile.png and bluetile.png and probably 125% crit boost with Storm, Magneto, and whoever-else.")

Thank heavens this game is only in its first of hopefully many years of development. Perhaps by the time I max my roster, and for all players with maxed rosters, there will be new options of gameplay available only to them to battle amongst each other (elite league, 5-star characters, 3-stars become the new 1-stars; second game--let's do this).

Those are my thoughts. I just wanted to share my angst of thinking about what I will do if I don't have MPQ on my daily list of things to do.

KEEP ME OCCUPIED, D3P! Please? Like, seriously. Pretty please? I already go outside, I depend on you all to veg when I'm not being a contributing member of society. Don't make me contribute more than I have to, D3P, due to excessive boredom. I'm counting on you to make me make sure that outside of prescribed hours no one can count on me. Don't let me not let people down on my downtime. That is all. Thank you.

if you're strictly an f2p player you should be far from maxing everything.. even for us, the so-called "whales" (and when i see all these xf/nf everywhere on all those random rosters from ppl never heard before, this label is misused for us (the 1 year vets) cause i dont even want to know the insane amount of money spent on isos and covers to get these kind of rosters from scratch), it's a constant fight: placing top 10 in each pve, placing top 5 on pvp offering the wanted covers, reaching top prog rewards on pve and then get 1100 on featured char pvp.. (then you got 10 covers and the rest is luck on pulls (if possible) or usually investing on missing covers..).. the you have to iso max them and hit LRs like a boss for weeks to get the needed isos.. you'll see its far from an easy path and you have a lot of work ahead of you..
  • ... and hit LRs like a boss for weeks to get the needed isos.. you'll see its far from an easy path and you have a lot of work ahead of you..
You had me here... [Teardrop emoji].

Yeah, come to think of it, 270 is a long way to go in ISO, and far, far, FAR more than what a 2-star requires ...

I ... suppose I may have overshot my bounds on that one. Contrary to having "a max level" roster, I do feel confident I can at least get every 3-star cover in six months. Yes. I am that patient ... And I am willing to walk that road... I've already come this far.

I'm going to hit this thing like Ash Ketchum on "coffee" headed towards the Pokemon League (minus the filler episodes).

Yup. You're absolutely right. I've got a long way to go. And just because I can get a max-cover 1-, 2- and 3-star roster in 9 months doesn't mean I can level them up in the same amount of time without selling a kidney, a reproductive organ, and possibly one-half rights to my eternal (however valuable) soul.

Actually, come to think of it, I don't want to think about how many minimums of thousands of dollars people have shelled into getting a maxed roster off the start. I'd be willing to bet it costs somewhat close to a new car ... on a video game.

Yeah, I'm F2P all day with the exception on HP for roster slots. At least I can say I'm close to a whale. You made me feel pretty good about my MPQ-ing to fit into that subgroup. Updated max F2P roster schedule: 2 years from today.

At least D3P can rest assured in knowing that I won't be going anywhere ... for a long, long time. My pride won't let me rest until I can fairly beat someone who spent $5,000+ on a "pocket device, entertainment application" on my own accord and pure gaming skill alone. Even if it takes 30 minutes a day, every day, for the next 5 years, I'm demantling one of the top dogs. I want that five grand to leave a bitter taste in their mouths ... As for my time ... it's time I would have wasted anyway. I may as well waste it making someone's expensive purchase entirely meaningless. Bwahahahahaha--okay, I'm done.

Thanks for the comments/feedback, Franckynight. It has been very eye-opening.

    Hello there!

Just to let you know there is only one person that's going to take down the top guns! パーンチ!!c(*゚ー゚)(o。))゚0゚),⌒☆
i think we all know who i am talking about so i won't mention that person's name *wink wink*

[you didn't come here to brag did u?] oh yeah! so anyway, just a bit of friendly advice! it's nice to have goals and a competitive streak but let's not forget if it weren't for those "whales" you seem so bent on leaving a ~*ahem* taste in their mouth (not really my thing but i won't judge!) the game would not be as fun! Those whales are free to play the game whatever way they like and for the most part their investment benefits the whole community. So if you are going to leave an *ahem* taste in their mouth, why not make it a sweet one? Or maybe a tangy one? [don't say fruity, for the love of all that is cool don't say fruity!] or even a fruity one! <i knew he was going to say it> [why do i bother even trying?]

anywhoo, the moral of the story is that if you are playing this game solely to show a person who has spent money on the game that you can do it without spending said money and that person probably doesn't even care or know that you are competing with him/her/it, then is it really a righteous and glorious goal?
no need for answers, just asking!

So good luck to you! New Captain Kangaroo! i look forward to reading your updates on your progress and seeing you out there on the battlefield! F.Y.I. i don't play nice! (*゚ー゚)=○)゚O゚)パンチ!

Okay I'll play my part in your quest to leave a "bitter" taste in a whale's mouth. You let me know when you catch up to my roster and I promise to be emotionally shattered and publicly wail about "Where did all the money go?" icon_lol.gif

Truthfully I am hopeful there is still a game five years from now so you and I can necro this thread when you finally meet your goals. Almost time to go grind some LR's

Somtimes, late at night, when no one is looking. I look longingly at your roster. Sometimes for hours.
I wish my roster had the depth and girth that yours does. It just looks so powerful.
My roster is okay, but not nearly as impressive as yours.
I bet you hear that a lot but it doesn't make it any less true.

    1) Its not the size of your roster, it's how you use it. I know several people who have satisfied many requirements with only slight maxing.

    2) I bet you like to "Play Harder"

    3) Is it weird if you just like to watch?

    4) How do you feel about the animation where Punisher shoots you in the face with his gun?

    5) Ok, I'm done.

  • 4) How do you feel about the animation where Punisher shoots you in the face with his gun?

I always mentally play that Imogen Heap song from the "Dear Sister" SNL short.
  • Several things to be addressed here :

    1) If you stick on your F2P playstyle, you will never max every character in the game. You'd need too much Iso.

    2) I have maxed all characters except Doc Oc, who should be maxed soon, but started to max a second copy of several characters (3 so far, and 3 others on the way), and enjoy being able to play longer with less Health Packs. And I still enjoy playing MPQ a lot. I am in a cool Alliance and improved my gameplay over the last seasons (from 800/pvp to now 1450/pvp average).

With Lady Thor coming soon, XF buffed lately, I still like the game a lot.

July and August were pretty boring, but now things have improved a lot.

I've been playing for nearly 250 days and don't plan to quit anytime soon.

I too hope the game will exist in 5 years time, and just imagine what my roster will look like then icon_e_biggrin.gif
  • One last thing :

It takes 1 Million Iso to max level 1* and 2* characters, 4,3 Million Iso for the 3*, and another 1,3 Million Iso for the 4*.

In a few weeks, it will be another 860000 for the 2 additional 4*.

You shouldn't worry about the future then icon_e_smile.gif
  • I've been playing for about 7 and a half months now.

I started playing PVP at the beginning of Season 1, which I think was around April to May. I was running 1*Storm/Juggernaut for most of season 1. By season 2, I was running 1*Storm/Thor. By season 3, I was running OBW/Thor/Wolverine

If I'm recalling things correctly, I got my first 3 star to level 166 during the middle of the 4th season. I got my 2nd level 166 by the beginning of Season V.

It is now near the end of Season 6, and I have 3 maxed 166s, a 153 missing one cover, a 141 with max covers, a 138 with max covers, a 127 with 10 covers, 4 maxed 2 stars (Thor, Storm, OBW, Wolverine), 1 level 81 3* with 9 covers and 10 others with at least 9 covers that I haven't leveled yet.

The game really does cascade very very quickly once you get your first 2 level 166s. I'm nowhere near conquering the game, but I am getting to the point where I am not as motivated to get covers as I used to be, as my covers are out scaling the amount of ISO I have to level my characters.

I'm now in a situation where I'm trying to understand how to enjoy the game without the constant hunt for viability. I used to be excited when I got top 25. Now I'm pissed off when I'm not top 5. We'll see if D3 has any intention of spicing the game up a little bit.

The grinding is getting a little repetitive.

(Hey, you can say the s-word and still keep it PG-13... there's only one)

    I understand ...

    Yeah ..
I suppose you have a point..
The game really wouldn't be much fun without those guys and gals posing a challenge to everybody; they are the necessary benchmark...

And they do make the game more fun and challenging.
Without them it would just not be fun and become a battlefield of untrained savages!#@!%@$
    Madness ...

The truth of the matter is that I'm jealous icon_rolleyes.gif
And I just want the rosters ...
    I want them bad ...
I just want them so bad--is that so much to ask?

So yes, I suppose the game is still about destroying your opponents and leaving absolutely no question as to is best ...
But also showing a little respect for those who have come before ... icon_redface.gif
    *Ahem*

The whales are not the bad guys, they are the badasses ... that either have fun money--or developer's privileges--or both--and one way or the other have certainly earned their places to be top dogs around here ...

So, if you're going to be taking out all the top dogs I suppose I will take the stragglers left behind; I suppose that's only fair.

So, yeah, cool story, bro. I 'preciate the talks. icon_cool.gif

See you on the battlefield, I suppose. I look forward to getting my roster pwned from you and then boosting one single victory back someday. It will be an honor.

    Kudos.

    Lol ... I appreciate it ...
I suppose someone who shelled out a couple hundred here and there on a game they really like doesn't really care if they lose here and there.
Which makes sense, but I do like occasionally sending a defeated notification to somebody that skipped on the gameplay and skipped straight ahead to victory--with the exception of the devs.
The gameplay element of it is fun and that's just something you miss out on if you shell out too much on ISO and HP, so I will say that I am pro-F2P for the most part but don't chastise those that do P2P because it's still fair way to go by it--they just do what F2P players do but much faster.

I appreciate the challenge, so those guys are kind of a necessary thing for F2P players. Otherwise it would just be chump fights all day long. And the game is worth the dough. By entertainment dollar's standard, MPQ is frugal anyhow. icon_e_biggrin.gif

I too look forward when I will be a whale with the bitter taste in its mouth.

    Wait ...
