Losing points while shielded

I wanted to ask people before I reported this as a bug: Have you ever been defeated after buying a shield? I was thinking maybe someone had started to fight me before I shielded, and finished afterwards, so I still lost the points, but is this fair? Isn't the point of the shield that this can't happen? What if five people were fighting me at once? Then I'd have bought a shield and lost over 100 point, anyways.

  • I think I saw a post from a veteran player warning about that somewhere.

Apparently, when you buy a shield it doesn't automatically sync that information to the D3 servers. Normally, your account automatically syncs every couple of minutes. So, if you get attacked during the time between when you bought the shield and the automatic sync, you still lose points.

You can force a sync by going to "event rewards" and checking your player rank. That's what the player recommended doing after buying a shield.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Good Call. It was Vudu3 in this thread http://www.d3pforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=13167
  • Also someone may defeat you before you put your shield up, but there will be a lag and it won't show that you were hit till a few minutes later... It just so happens you now have a shield up, but it was not up at the time of the defeat.

Yup, that was the exact post I was thinking of.
