How to properly time mission completion in Hulk Events
Hey all,
Just trying to get some opinions. I would like to know what rubber-banding means and also how to properly time how much/when to grind the events. Are they refreshed back to full points at some point? Do the points gradually return?
I'd just like to know how to plan out how I'm going to play for max points. I ended with 49591 in the last event so I don't want that to happen again!

For maximum points, you can can do each map 3 times, as far as I know anyways. The later you complete them, the more points you'll get, especially if people above you get more points.0

From what I've read there is an optimal way to time them so that they refresh their point values. That is the information that I am after. Also, if there's a correct way to exhaust that 2nd refresh of points.. if finishing just right before the event ends is best.. I'd like to know.0

Finishing your last set of refreshes right before the event ends will give you the best rubberbanding, but honestly, if you are completing every mission to 0 every frefresh, that won't matter. If you are going to be that diligent, you'll be at the top of the pack anyhow. They appear to frefresh every 8 hours, so optimal timing for them would be 6 hours after event start, 8 hours after that, and then 8 hours after that (which would be 2-1 hours before the event ends.) Also makes a difference how long it takes for you to finish all the missions.
I finished in the top 300 in the last, I only did some of the missions down to zero, and I only did them 2 times (initial time and first refresh). So, being the diligent is slightly overkill, but will guarantee a top finish and a red punisher cover, I guess.0 -
If time is not a factor you simply play them whenever they're available and don't even need to think about anything.
If time is a limiting factor, you still want to play as often as possible, but ensure that you finish your last set of mission as close to the event ending as possible. This means if your mission refreshed with 7 hours left, you're better off waiting until the very end to do them. But if your missions refreshed with 9 hours left, you should do them immediately because you can do them again at the very end.0 -
Do you guys think there's some trick to get top 600 in each sub event? That's what I was aiming for last time, but I found it impossible to place for the last two days or so. The rubberbanding was too strong even though I tried to only place ~500-600 in each sub before that.
Maybe it would actually be easier if I got higher placings in the subs, to get into higher brackets, and be affected less by rubberbanding?0 -
If you placed well (say top 50 or better) in a high points sub bracket that virtually guaranteeds you won't place in the top 800 the next one.
Ideally you want to place top on a low point bracket as this gives you the fewest overall points, but of course everyone else is probably trying the same thing. What you should do is immediately finish one full set of missions (or whatever you're willing to actually do) the moment you're in a bracket, and see where you fall in. If you're number 1000 after doing the first set of missions in a sub bracket, chances are very likely you won't make significant progress on that bracket and you should cut your losses early.
If you want to be safe, you can shoot for always going for the lowest heroic token reward (top 800/600). That should be low enough to ensure you're always competitive in future sub brackets. If you're aiming for 800, just do missions until you hit around 700th place and then stop. This will ensure you've plenty of points in reserve when people start passing you up. Of course this method you have no chance of getting the juicy top prizes in each sub brackets either.0 -

It shouldn't be possible. Assuming 10,000 players, if you place 600 in the first couple of events that leaves 9,400 people with better rubber banding bonuses than you for the second set of events. And if you somehow manage 600 in the second set then their advantage over you becomes even greater. Eventually their bonuses will overcome your diligence.0 -
With one notable exception I placed in the top 800 of every sub mission last time around.
Only got HP maybe 3 or 4 times though. But at least got a lot of Heroic-level tokens.0 -

You are making the assumption that everyone does missions simultaneously, which they don't. Still, it can be tricky to do well in multiple simultaneous sub-events.0 -
I ended up in the top 800 for each submission last time and ~50 overall.
I had two brackets from 600-800; most were in the 200-500 range. There were only a couple (both early ones) where I placed highly in the submissions.
If you're going for a good overall score, you are unlikely to do well in the submissions unless you get extraordinarily lucky with your brackets.
With 2k people in them and only a handful of places that really matter for the sub missions, I'm just not too bothered as long as I can get heroic tokens or better.0 -
The sub brackets are only 2000 people so placing top 800 all the time isn't really that impossible.
In theory you can try to tank a bracket with a ton of points for better position later on, but people tend to do that anyway just because the harder bracket tends to have the level 245 X 3 guys that most people can't beat.0 -
Points are refreshing,, can confirm 8 hour timer0
