PVE during vacation

I am going on vacation tomorrow and I won't be getting back until Sunday night. With the new PVE event going on I could use some advice so that I can finish in top 150. What would be the best method for this since I won't be able to play every 2.5 hrs. Would it be best to do 2 or 3 battles per node in the morning and before I go to bed? I would like to get the new cover, but I don't want the game to get in the way while I am out and about.

  • I think I remember reading that if you're going to have a long break in between plays you're better off hitting the high value nodes 2-3 times, since they should be fully reset by the time you comeback.

I don't know if this will be enough, but it's probably the best possible for your situation.

Grind twice a day: in the morning, and at night. Grind your nodes down until either they're not worth any real points, or their countdowns to full refresh approach the time of your next grind session. If you're grinding twice a day, about 12 hours apart, and each session takes an hour, then you definitely want to stop before your nodes' refresh countdowns reach 11 hours.

Also, grind the most valuable nodes first.
  • Thanks for the advice. Should I make sure it's under the 11 hour mark for the recharge or stop before that (8 or 9 hours?) so that my bonus recharges as well?

    Bonus?
  • Yeah I read on here that there's a bonus for a recharge. Not sure what it's called, but a 10x then 8x 6x 4x and then 2x. I think it's a rubberband bonus?

Ah, that. That has nothing to do with how long you personally wait after doing a node. The rubberband multiplier is based on how far you are, points-wise, below either the global points leader (highest scoring player at any given moment) or the sub-event points leader (player with the highest sub-event score, across all sub-event player brackets). The farther you are below the points leader, the greater your rubberband multiplier until it hits a max of usually 10x base points. Similarly, the closer your score is to the leader's, the lower your rubberband multiplier.

Enjoy your vacation for crying out loud. Forget about MPQ for a while. It will release this stress of seeing a game as an obligation! Go, be FREE! icon_e_biggrin.gif
  • Obviously, I read this a little late, but I would not start playing PvE until you came back if you are interested in winning Doc Ock. I don't have much time to play weekends, so I never start a week long PvE until Monday or Tuesday (depending on sub end times) and I usually win 1 cover of the new characters, as well as most/all progression rewards thanks to rubberbanding. Maximum gain for minimum pain is how I see it

They've been toning down the rubber banding a bit. Might be more difficult to get progression rewards when skipping PvE events with subs.

It's not toned down much. I think it is more a matter of scaling being higher, so people cannot do all the nodes. Entered 2nd sub with 3 hours left and made 2 passes on easy nodes and a 3rd suboptimal pass on essential nodes. The hard nodes had already scaled me out. Got 27k from that effort - almost 25% of the Psylocke progression.

The OP and I were both in the same boat of being concerned about top150 more than progression, so in that situation, I think the advice holds. Additionally, if there is any moderate rubberbanding on the repeatable main nodes, all progressions will be easily achievable.
  • As an update, finished with 122k and 39th place. So even with a late start, progressions can be reached and the main bracket usually has very few serious players.
  • Update for me as well: 121k and rank 102 so having played just in the morning and before seemed to work just fine.
