Well you can use LDaken and Sentry, of course, as is the typical OP combination. But can you elaborate a little bit more? What team did you use? What was your max level enemies?

I'm still looking for my first levels of Pheromone Rage and World Rupture, so those two were also out. I mainly used Classic Storm and MN Magneto, with purple/blue AP boosting on the tough fights (yes, its outside assistance, but spending 200 ISO is a drop in the bucket when the event as a whole is worth well over 10,000 and you stand to gain 2000 and a 3* cover from a single node). The highest level enemies I've fought are 270-ish.

Ok, this is it, you were able to not using the hood because your fights were below max levels. As a comparison, I will say that my last fight was at 370 lvl, and allmost all my Gauntlet:Finale was above 270lvl. To kill Jugs at lvl 342 (27000 hps) with Storm's Vendaval I would need to fire it more than ten times :S:S:S And any of these 1* can do 195 tile damage, so allmost 600 in any match of their primary color, Storm would be dead in just 6-7 matches ( and without any 4-5 match ).

I think that maybe there are a more strategies that can work if you are more in the 2* <-> 3* realm, but when you are at full in 3* it is worse, and your buffed characters doesn't work that well (it helps, but not that much), because enemy scaling is that high that anything you do can compensate this.

I have decent variety in my roster so figuring out which combination will get me that win is like solving chess puzzles, very fun. I would add this mode to Seasons, I little PvE flavor to the seasons

It's disappointing to hear that the scaling in 3* land is even harder. I'll add my experience to the list.

As someone in the 2* <-> 3* transition, I have a very limited roster and found this relied heavily on luck. I mostly used CStorm and Mags (sometimes Johnny), and basically if I got lucky with the board, I could stun to the win. If I was unlucky -- which was most of the time -- I got wiped and had to wait until I could heal back up. I've stopped at node 34 as I cannot use CStorm for this and I keep getting unlucky and WRed to death by Sentry. I also don't see the rewards as compelling enough to keep trying: everyone needs more ISO but first I need more covers, one heroic token will probably get me another 2* I already have (as usual), and I don't see myself getting to the 3* GSBW or Psy without wasting a ridiculous amount of ton of time and effort in the process. So, meh.

I think this mode of play has a lot of potential, but, yeah, but I didn't personally find it that fun. To win, especially at the higher nodes, I felt I had the best chance (or only chance as the node scaled) with Storm and Mags, and that got boring. Fast.

I found the last PvE event one of the more fun events because I was able to rotate through a number of different combinations of my characters to try different combos. That was fun, and it didn't seem so reliant on luck of the board.

Just my two cents for the little it's worth.
  • Not sure why the PvP Sentry/Daken/Hood team was brought up given he's on exactly one finale team (essential 18, and he had really weak support). Fighting Hood is always very difficult but for PvP you do not have the restriction of 'no opponent characters' like PvE, and if you don't have Hood you're just fighting at an extremely disadvantageous position. Beating a 166 version of the above team is pretty easy with Hood if not boosted regardless of who the other two characters are. Juggernaut was a far more dangerous opponent than The Hood in Balance of Power, and that's just an event where the levels are even, as opposed him having a 200 level advantage on you.

You don't have to have Hood but if you don't have him a lot of those games are just going to look like enemy match 2 red, Headbutt, game over. For that matter even if they don't have a super fast move, something like a level 395 Wind Storm can easily kill you and you don't have a way to take away AP without The Hood or OBW with any reliability, and Storm still has around 11K HP at level 395.

Also pleasant to see a lot more community sharing. As someone mentioned earlier... this is a more pure version of PVE, and tacitly, Community Versus Event. People are just more willing to share tactics and strategy when it's not a competition with each other (though I recognize people do share tactics for "competitive" PVEs still, there seems to be much more going on here) - the format and the degree of difficulty seems to bring out to the community.

I attribute it to the fact that we've all had alot more sleep this week. Thank you soooooooo much D3! icon_e_biggrin.gif
  • I could get the black 2* Torch cover in phase 3 and I stopped there. Getting to another cover reward will be too difficult.

But you see, you have to use The Hood no matter what. In all the 250+ nodes you need to use The Hood so they cannt trigger any power. If you woudlnt use the Hood in this fight Mags and Storm woudnt stand a chance.

Try this same fight without The Hood and boosts.
I did say I went unboosted. And no, I also wiped with the same comp so it's not fool-proof. I would love to use oBW but buffed cStorm/MMN take blue/purple from her, and oBW and Hood are the only good AP thieves we have. If there would be more, I could maybe think of more comps icon_rolleyes.gif

Yes, I didn't mean that you used them, it was more like or you use The Hood or you need to boost. In this case, you used The Hood. OBW I think is worse than the hood because she needs to match purple and most of the time be in front (if you don't use another powerful purple user).
It took me some tries but I wasn't winning all games with the Hood, either.

I managed to get to the first node of The Finale with two max 2*s (Wolverine and Magneto), a Level 70 Hawkeye, and a Level 55 Human Torch, almost explicitly. I used 2* Widow on maybe two nodes, and not because I needed to for difficulties sake, but because one of the above was KO'd and I was conserving Health Pack as much as I could.

The Gauntlet was challenging and fun. I was slightly offput hat it was literally impossible for me to get decent prizes without having Punisher. I could have used even the 2* Storm cover, but I couldn't achieve it no matter what. If you want prizes to be for people that have the "Essential" character only, put them as prizes in those nodes, not as Progression Rewards.

I like the idea, I liked the overall execution, and I would love to see it more often. 8/10.
