Take me back to 2* land

I'm finding that as I play this game more, the more I enjoy the 2* land that I used to be in. When I first started, you could actively improve 2* characters since they used to offer 3 2* covers in pvp. While they don't do that anymore, the 2* covers generally come easier since you can farm them from regular pvp now. Compare this with 3* covers, where you might get 2-6 if a specific character in a season (8 if you're a top player, in which case it's arguable whether you even needed them in the first place). That means you'll probably need 1.5-2, maybe 3 seasons before your 3* character is useful. Then there's the issue of ISO, which could take months to come across to get a single 3* up and running. In that same time, you can have several 2* characters that are at least competitive for the first several hundreds of points in pvp.

The biggest kick in the nuts happens when they release **** 3* characters like Beast or She Hulk. You want to believe they don't suck, but after you try them out the proof Is undeniable. Then you've wasted ISO and effort for something not that useful. I would argue that none of the 2* characters are useless next to each other, save for maybe Bullseye, and at least he's fun to try out as a skill character. Even Bagman is a quasi pve MVP.

Finally, with the addition of torchling, buffs to Daken and Hawkeye, and the upcoming Ms. Marvel, I definitely feel like there's a lot more balance in 2* land than in 3* land. Heck, if 3* land was as balanced as 2* land, I bet the player base would be all kinds of happy.

Any other veteran players miss the good old days when your roster wasn't stacked with 3*s?

A few people have left posts observing that they had way more fun when they decided to start an alternate account and started fresh and new.

Maybe just starting over is what you want.

In theory, 3* land should be a really fun place but it seems like the top tier is established and far enough ahead of other characters that it's stale for advanced players. A minor balance fix would do wonders, to bring some fun combos back to 3* land.

Lately 2* land has gotten an infusion of new stuff (Torch, Daken buff, Hawkeye buff, upcoming Ms. Marvel?) to make things more interesting. Generally, I'm enjoying the slow transition to 3* land.

Except when I run into 166's in PvP.

It'd also be nice to play opponents based on how many days you've been playing the game. I'm on Day 113. I've got a handful of maxed out 2 stars, starting to roll into a few 3 stars. Would be nice to only play against people on the same level.

Correct me if I'm wrong but if you stopped using your 3 stars and only used 2 stars, eventually your MMR would put you back into 2 star land, if you wanted.

Maybe if you sold them but I doubt it. I'm pretty sure either the average level or the age of your roster (or even both) is a key component of MMR.

My mate has 3 X 166 and tried losing games for days and days of whole events, deliberately tanking he would just cycle his roster, kill everyone off then wait for them to rez, take them in with next to no health and just flog his team and MMR racking up losses and he got put into a bracket with a whole bunch of 2 stars and went after the one Daken cover he was missing, Sentry bombing them like Baghdad and he said even at the end the hardest he fought was Ares/ OBW/ Thor and finished with 800 points which was 200 points clear of the pack.

A serious note on this, he tanked for 3-4 whole PVP events for hours and hours per night to lower it and as soon as he came first he got booted back to where he was. You have to tank like 4 losses to a win kind of ratios. He only did it because there was one cover he desperately wanted and D3 don't make any reasonable way to unlock it without this kind of cheap shenanigans. Anyway to my mind it's all a massive waste of time, the irony of it is that after he won the cover and bought the rest of the covers the next day he opened the cover in a recruit token LOL.

I am happy in 3* land. I've sold most of my 2* and only keep favorites to play in PVE.

The only 3* character I don't like and don't regularly use is Sentry. He is so dysfunctional it makes my teeth ache. Plus watching WR go off is so tedious. The amusement of watching it do more damage to the opposing team long ago wore off.

You can go back to 2* land. Simply sell off your 3* characters and use only 1* and 2* characters. One of my daughters plays very happily in 2* land. She has been playing almost as long as I have and still delights in Moonstone and Cap2.
