From what I can tell from the game, it allows you to "save" your progress (?) and also gives you a reward that seems to be 1-3 extra ISO (?) occasionally. But does connecting to Facebook mean you have to enable apps on Facebook? And do things like how you are doing show up in your feed or anything horrid like that? Anything else I've missed?

It's primarily to get ISO. If not for that, I doubt anyone would bother.

MPQ doesn't post to your Facebook wall automatically. What it does do:

    - The game may offer to share your after-battle ISO, token or boost rewards with Facebook friends who also play the game. This occurs randomly.
    - The game may offer to share your after-battle 1* cover rewards with up to 10 friends who do not play the game. This is to entice them into playing. Also random.
    - Your game progress is saved to your Facebook profile; currently this is the only way to transfer your data between devices.

CNash: AWESOME, thanks for the reply! That's exactly what I wanted to know.

That's not accurate. All my fb friends play mpq, and it always sends covers to 10 of them. Likewise, I get covers from others, and I'm obviously playing...

It would be more accurate to say that it offers to send the cover to 10 of your friends regardless of whether they play or not.

Whenever I get the "10 friends" offer, I deselect everyone and then reselect only the people I know play. I don't want to spam nonplayers with game requests.

Fair enough; it's been my experience that the offer to send 1* covers has never picked any of my friends who do play the game, and always picks ten random friends who don't. Those friends who play have reported the same thing; I never show up on the 1* cover sharing list, but always show up on the ISO/token/boost sharing list.

However, my pool of friends who play MPQ is quite limited - five players vs 20+ non-players - so my experiences are most likely not the norm.

I'm also experimenting with logging into a dummy facebook account just to "save" and I think the game knows when you are not logged into that same account that you connected with before. (Interestingly, it also seems like you could connect to multiple facebook accounts.) So if you don't mind switching accounts constantly, you could play while logged into a second account and avoid the spamming on your personal account.

I wonder how often it "saves" and I suppose it has to be connected to the "saving" facebook account in order to do so?
  • I created an account solely to use as my save account. It's under my game name, tied to my "dump" email account, has no friends, no information, and I never log onto it, except for game-related stuff. It is there solely because the game requires it for saves, for some reason.

Awesome! Do you know if it requires you to sign in to get the bonus ISO, or in order to re-"save"? Or can that continue to happen even if you're logged into another account on the same device?

Beats me; I've never bothered with the ISO. And I don't have another account, but it seems to keep you signed in regardless, since when I got my new tablet I signed in via the game and haven't had to ever since then on the app or via a browser.

I know people who have done this for a number of social games. It is a handy tool. Most still make 'friends' with other players to take advantage of resource sharing.

I didn't create a gaming FB account because I'm a FB addict and I don't want to keep logging back and forth between the two on my phone. I just try to keep my gaming world separate from my 'real-world' FB friends.
  • I get the advantage, but I had a real account for two years ages ago, and I don't want anything more to do with it than I absolutely have to. It took me ages just to set up the one I have because I didn't want one for any reason at all.
