Is there a compelling reason to max a 4* ?

I am in the process of leveling XForce, mine is at level 206, green 77, 8388 hps, 3219 damage his green ability. Next level has a cost of 2896 iso, and this is going to grow to 4000-5000 iso in the last levels. At 270, XForce has 82 in green, 10960 hps, and green power does 3441. So, for more or less 200.000+ iso you get 5 more in match damage, 2600 hps and 200 more damage in his green ability. Fury I think is more or less the same.

So my question to the most experienced players is, is it worth it? It is really a ton of iso for a little bit more of damage and some hps more. You can max another character with this much iso.

My original plan was to max him until he got to 79 match damage (same as 3*) and leave it there (level 210 to 220, I don't know the exact level). But I suppose I am going to use him a lot, so maybe it is worth to put that much iso into him...

  • There's a few reasons to. One is - once you've got your 1*, 2*, and 3*s all maxed - you're still getting ISO, and it's an outlet for it. Second reason is that two of the three 4*s are quite good, and one of them has the only really solid active purple power in the game. I don't plan on taking mine past 166 until my 3*s that can get there are all there, but I definitely will then.

I don't have all the right covers -- but I would tend to doubt I'd drop 200K ISO on this. If he tanks colors for folks, he will be good for sustained pushes (using his True Heal) -- healthpack.pnghealthpack.png
As a defensive deterrent, sure, get him to 270 -- but for utility and actually winning matches, I don't see value in maxing X-Force.

I know the guy who was leading my Juggernaut Heroic bracket had 2 of XForce, and was working on a 3rd. Fury he only had 1 maxed, but was building two more.

So I'm guessing the compelling reason is 'money burning hole in pocket.'

Sounds more like the reason is "customer support hasn't gotten around to sandboxing him yet"

To the OP, it's all a matter of priorities. If you still haven't maxed some of the core 3*s, your XForce is fine where he is. But if the choice is to put ISO into XForce or Beast, might as well do XForce.
  • PVP domination?

Most people just skip fully leveled 4 stars, just because they are level 270.
  • I took XF to lvl 222 cause that's where he starts tanking yellow for cMags but looking at the cost/benefit of taking him beyond that level, I'll be holding off and saving ISO for all the good 3*s that are still around lvl 100. Some stupid reasons that I will lvl up characters often times deal with the scarecrow factor (i.e., levelling up to lvl 67 so with a 50% buff they will go into 3 digit level territory or levelling up so that total HP crosses the 10,000 mark) with the hopes of generating more skips just because ppl see one extra digit in the level or HP. Otherwise, might as well keep hoarding ISO in case they buff IW or release a new character that is actually good.
