"...this change is to cut down on things like [item removed], which prolongs play time through something that is pretty obviously just a time intensive process that doesn't involve actual strong gameplay. It's something people do because it's there, much like tanking. It's not something that's fun. It's not something that's enjoyable. It's something that exists and is taken advantage of because of pure efficiency." Source.

For those following along at home, I did just trick you.

The original quote was not in reference to the frustrating grindfest that PvE has become, but the introduction of the (flawed) gameplay mechanic of True Healing (TM) that changed a previous play style.

I thought the similarites were eery and the topics could almost be interchangeable.

Edit - Spelling.

  • Agree completely.

    I hate PVE.
  • What are you guys talking about? I love pve's it's a great way to stock up on ISO, with out pve's it would take ages to max characters, so I hope the debs do more pve's.

Ooh, I disagree. Prologue healing was my life until "True" Healing. It became its own joyless scramble in the closing hours of PvP: How many times do I have to KO Venom to get my team back to full strength? And what do I want to spend this new 20 ISO bill on?

PvE is varied, and to some degrees, more engaging and rewarding than grinding the same prologue battle. I don't remember if we had as many Heroics before True Healing, but I would ride the same three characters over and over again. And if I were too aggressive and got a gravely-wounded vital character completely downed? Phones be throwed.

Part of my tolerance of PvE is pretty selfish: I may wait until 12-18 hours before close to join the node, and then ride scaling in my brackets, rather than grinding for days on end. In the last 3-4 PvE's, I've managed to hit all the progressive awards, although my ranking finishes have been anywhere between 1-150.

PvE can be sloggish, but unlimited team healing was a never-ending slog. I can't imagine what OBW + Sentry + team healing would have been like.
