Best Abilities?
Just wondering what everyone thinks are the best abilities by colour (or color for you Americans). I'm not including passives in this.
At the moment I see it as follows:
Human Torch, honourable mention to deadpool tho,
Thor, I don't think there is much competition for this.
Sentry, we've all been on the wrong end of a world rupture
Daken, I think his blue is awesome, though I would choose hood here if I was including passives.
I confess my x force isn't finished so I don't know how good he is, I'm gonna say BP for this but I imagine some of you might disagree.
OBW, It's a shame she's so easy to kill because this ability can be game ending. It's also one of the few TU's I actually use.
If there is anything anyone thinks I've missed or something is just plain wrong, let me know!

Some of these are dependent on the situation.
Punisher is extremely valuable in PVE with high scaled tanks, he can end someone with over 5K health left using Retribution.
With the advent of True Healing, Spidey's Spider-Sense can often extend your health packs significantly. I'd also give honorable mention to Deadpool for Whales.
Again, situational to PVE, Falcon rules goon fights almost allowing you to ignore any CD tiles.0 -

Punisher is a good shout, especially as I've noticed Hulk is making a resurgence ever since the cmags nerf.0 -

Yellow: Sentry. a 674 strength strike tile? This ability is the reason Sentry is overpowered, not his green; contrary to popular belief. The combination is just terrible.
Red: Human Torch. This one is uncontested. There is no better damage for AP ability in the entire game.
Blue: Nick Fury. What a strong ability. Damn. Its like a Daredevil red that might actually occur.
Purple: Dead Pool. AoE 3000+ on one of the rarest ability colors in the game. Wow.
Green: From a strictly ability standpoint, It's Grey Suit Black Widow. Problem is, she is too squishy to farm up 19 green to use it.
Black: Black Panther. Another no competition pick. The only really, truly impactful black ability in the entire game. Until X Force, who may offer some competition.0 -
Deadpool's A Little Off The Top. 6AP for 3k damage? Insane. HT's comes close, but it's hampered by HT having **** health; Supernova is a contender but at 11 and ending the turn it's quite pricy, plus nobody is running anything other than 3/5/5 on sentry; headbutt would be obscene if Juggs wasn't stuck at level 40. ALOTT is just awesome.
Thor's Thunder Strike. Yes, sacrifice is amazing, but I'm gonna have to vote for this one. Thor's yellow is one of the only significantly damaging yellows in the game, and it has the side-effect of enabling CotS, which will end games. Perhaps honorable mention to Battleplan or Sacrifice for providing massive amounts of strike tiles for relatively cheap, but getting off a Thunder Strike will often mean chaining into CotS, and ending the game.
World Rupture. WR is quite possibly the single most fundamentally broken skill in the game, dealing (200+(total strike tile damage))*16 to the entire enemy team, which is almost always enough to end the game in an instant if you've dropped Sacrifice, Battleplan, Berserker Rage, or Judgment. Nothing else even comes close. As good as Judgment, Berserker Rage, and CotS are, World Rupture is a tier all its own in terms of breaking the game - basically, in the same tier as C.Mags's old blue.
Not including passives is unfortunate, because Hood takes this one by a mile. But talking about just actives, it's really hard to argue with Demolition. Yeah, it's impossible to actually get Fury covers, but Demolition is absolutely obscene. If the opponent triggers it, they're losing a character. Full stop. That hulk? Dead. That colossus with shield up? Dead. It's the only blue that does anywhere near that much damage, and is absolutely the best blue skill.
Aggressive Recon. OBW is a monster of a character, even with only 3k health, and this skill is part of the reason why. The fact that she can steal 3AP from each color after only 2 purple matches makes her one of the most brutal AP denial tools in the game. Honorable mention to "Whales Whales Whales", the only good offensive purple skill left, but at 14, it's really hard to get off, whereas an 8AP denial tool is absolutely brutal.
Okay,this isn't even a question. Rage of the Panther. Damn near ending the game for 12AP? Come the **** on. This skill is incredibly overpowered. Panther would be good if this was the only skill he had; the fact that battleplan is amazing makes him top tier. Hey, remember when it did 5K AOE damage? Good times. Seriously, nothing else even comes close. Strike tile skills are nice, but 3K AOE for 12 is just sickeningly good. I guess honorable mention to Psi-katana - 1k damage and a 200 strike tile for 6AP is pretty sweet, but it doesn't hold a candle to ROTP.0 -
If you're talking about strict abilities as in you're forming a hypothetical character that has 1 ability of every color so there's no team composition issues, I'll go with:
Red: Star Spangled Avenger. This ability's drawback is that it's very hard to form a strong team without multiple red abilities that prevent you from using it. It takes one more match than Fireball to start but has a way better ratio and the ability to remove any tile from the board if needed.
Green: X Force, followed very closely by World Rupture. This is purely on a skill by skill basis. World Rupture and Call the Storm would be better when team composition is considered because Thor/Sentry brings their own AP acceleration/strike tile to address their green's dependence on other skills.
Yellow: Thunder Strike for straight up damage and board clearing potential. Sacrifice would be better if you're not interested in playing the control game in terms of raw power.
Purple: Illusions. It's as good as most board clearing move and costs the minimum AP possible in the current game.
Black: Surgical Strike if you can change your mind based on the opponent's strongest color (and switch back to Rage of the Panther if the color turns out to be a bad one). Rage of the Panther if no backtracking is allowed, because you can get Surgical Strike on a bad color.
Blue: Demolition, probably the easiest choice of all colors.0
