AI Upgraded?

I just saw it match a T shape for an extra turn.

  • Someone in another topic asked about why an event wasn't giving points. The response says it was an error due to tuning the events for a more enjoyable play through. Might mean they also tweaked the AI.

No AI tweaks, sorry. It's probable that the AI was trying to match up a 3 of a kind and that movement happened to give it the T-Shape instead.

Its rare for the AI not to make the 4-across match where a T is possible.

Did the AI need the color? Was there a cascade of tiles? Did the OP need that color? Or was it the 'organic' feature of the AI?

My guess is there was also another 4-match, and in making that one, it also made the T accidentally.
  • Anything that can be made into a T can always be made into a match 4, so the only way this is possible is if the AI was trying to make a match 4 and the tile it moves happens to complete a T elsewhere.

Imagine AI that would try focusing on taking out enemy special tiles if it would be a good idea (idk, if there are like 7 strike tiles on the board that do quite a bit of dmg, they should probably deal with em) and think turns in ahead to clear out special tiles. Imagine AI that doesn't waste time on enviro tiles unless they are boosted (and the environmental specials are good). Imagine AI try to set up match 5's turns in advanced -- in fact forcing you with 1 move left that puts them in a match-5 situation. What about brutal AI that knows the tiles that are coming? icon_e_wink.gif
  • Sometimes it happens that a T shape creates a match 4 in one direction or another no matter how you complete it. Maybe the AI was going for the match 4. But it was definitely a deliberate match, moving a tile, not just an accidental cascade match.

Clearly I wasn't paying enough attention. It certainly surprised the heck outta me though.
