The plight of PvP boredom
I really don't know what is going on on defense, but the lion's share of my points in PvPs come from def wins.
I probably spend an inordinate amount of time tanking in ssim, because there's an obvious correlation between MMR and who sees you in their nodes.
So, my modus operandi for several PvPs now has been to grind to 400+ (458 in this PvP) and throw up my underleveled (but fully covered) sentry+hood on defense and start tanking in ssim. I don't have to touch another node for the remainder of the PvP. Just regular tanking and within an hour of hitting 400+ I'll be 700+, without any further effort from me outside of tanking in ssim.
Throw up a 3 hour shield when I'm both 700+ and there's 6 hours or less remaining (then continue tanking), and I'll be 800-900+ in no time. Another shield after a quick match of indeterminate points, just to gauge an adequate amount of time to be unshielded, and 3 hour shield until it's over.
My list of leveled 3*s is quite small: lv131 patch, 130 sentry, 120 bp, 115 mororo, and a few others 100-105. As most people with levels like that have to grind their **** off for 900+, I do it without even trying. Seriously though, I get hit no less than 300 times per PvP, no joke.
As this is incredibly boring, I need help on how to stop...
I'm of the mind that every update Demiurge releases further ruins what was once a great, fun game and I REALLY need an out...

Delete Sentry from your Roster. Problem solved.0 -
Question: when you're offline for PVP, how is your team composed, the last team you used in PVP, or the last team you used in another battle (e.g.) PVE?
Do you have to set up your PVP team? I have no idea how this works after months and months of playing nor did I see any posts on this matter.0 -
The last team you won a match with in that PvP comprises your defense team for that PvP, each event being mutually exclusive.GuntherBlobel wrote:Delete Sentry from your Roster. Problem solved.
I suppose I was hoping against hope for a magic fix that didn't intentionally handicap myself.
I don't think that fix exists...
While "Press here to win" is a reality, there's no incentive not to hit that blonde button (Sentry).0 -
I used to love hitting the blonde button, but then the blonde left me for some jerk in accounting.0

Am I missing something here? You tank constantly, but want to know how you can make the game less boring and more challenging again? STOP TANKING.0

Your experience has been completely different from mine, it seems. I'm by no means a novice (basically fully covered everything that isn't deadpool, beast, or captain marvel), but getting past 800 points is requires a lot of grinding on my part.0

I legitimately tried that for about 2 weeks. Those mixed def wins/losses from varied-level rosters (anything from lv80-166) very quickly became def losses to 100% lv166 rosters. I went through 3 PvPs where every single defense hit was a lv166 team I had no chance of retaliating against. Quite demoralizing, I must say.Paintsville wrote:I used to love hitting the blonde button, but then the blonde left me for some jerk in accounting.
Gotta find a brunette button now, huh?0 -

That's pretty much how it works, yeah.0 -
Yep. That's why you don't jump into the 3 star pool with half-leveled 3 stars. With your powers not fully formed on those 3 stars, you might as well just be using 2 stars. In fact, you'd probably be better off since you'd get better matches naturally and wouldn't be thrown in with so many maxed 3s. And stop trying to continuously level up every 3 star you get all at once and just pick the best ones and get them maxed before using them as a team.0

Problem is, the only "best ones" I have adequate (and correct) covers for are Sentry (3/5/5), Patch (5/2/5), Hood (3/5/5), and HT (5/4/4). I have a few others cover maxed (Spidey, Psy, Shulk, Mororo), but the wrong covers, and since they're B-list or worse I can't justify putting iso into them unless absolutely necessary. I only have 7 covers for the remainder of the best characters: Lthor (mostly red), Hulk (mostly green), Pun (mostly black) and Ldaken (missing 2/2/1), so they're far from useful. Only have 7 covers for Cmags as well, but since he's ruined I really couldn't care less about him.
If I don't tank, PvP is rage-inducing and ultimately futile (sub-600 usually), if I do, it's super-boring since I can just phone it in while everyone gives me their points.
I realize I should just shut up and enjoy the free points, but deep down it just doesn't seem fair...0 -
NightsReign speaks the truth. I tried this and it works. I don't have as good a defensive team as he does, but if you get a reasonable score in PVP, then shield and tank in another PVP event or the simulator, you will get tons of attacks, and some will net you defensive win points boosting your score. It's much easier than dealing with the "wall of 166". Hopefully some of these issues get sorted out eventually.0

When i read this title I was thinking that boredom = having to play the same teams repeatedly. Changes were supposedly forced on us to encourage roster diversity but thats not the case.NightsReign wrote:My list of leveled 3*s is quite small: lv131 patch, 130 sentry, 120 bp, 115 mororo0
