what Death bracket did you have - Screen Captures
These "death brackets" are getting bad and getting worse...
One of the Carebears participating...
Myself...
Also, for the record, in the previous PvP... Where they were giving away The Beast. I could not even make top 5 with that score...
Something needs to be done about this... seriously.
EDIT:
Added another bracket...

More and More people are accumulating decent rosters but there is still definitely some sharding when you see some brackets can get top 10 with like 500 fewer points.
These scores will go down when everyone who cares has a fury or the 'new 3* guy' as not everyone spends insane hp for a score alone - take away the goal and half of these people probably hit 1100 or 1300 max0 -

Every now and then though you have to cut loose.0 -
LoreNYC,
I am not sure about that. The 5Ds and X community (amongst other Alliances, not to single those 2 alliance communities out) don't seem to care too much about covers and Furys. Example can be taken from the Screen captures above. There were at least 3 people in those top 5s who already have maxed 166 3/5/5 Carol Danvers AND Maxed out Fury covers.
So what would be the point in said case of climbing the numbers to 1600 - 1700 or even 1800 points?
The only reason I could see for this, is the long time speculated "helping out" of other alliance members, in turn ensuring their victories/covers.
Because of factors like attrition and rarity of covers, this behavior will never stop.
Example is going to be in the Carol PvP for Loki covers. Really, Loki? Anyhow thats another debate.
Fury for 1300 and Carol for 1100. So anyone who did not get Carol Red will be driving up the numbers for Carol Red - 1100. Since 1100 t0 1300 for a Fury (Blue) is not that big a leap if you have some extra HP kicking around, it seems logical to do so. If you have already spent for Fury, might as well go that extra mile (if necessary) and go for top 5.
If you are already invested in Fury + Top 5; why not throw a few more HP to ensure your spot. Out of HP, dish out a few bucks.
This is the vicious cycle D3 has now pitted us in...0 -

I definitely agree with this and am equally guilty of regularly falling into this same trap.0 -

I've been in lazy mode for a while. Didn't need the red cover so I didn't push for top 5, finished with 1000 points even. That was only good enough for 22nd in my bracket. Madness!0

Sentry makes the tradeoff greatly in favor of the players for reaching 4* in terms of hitting 1300. However since 4* are still pretty worthless at the moment this sort of works in D3's favor. Before Sentry it was like if you spend 1000 HP you might have a 50% chance (probably less) of hitting 1300 and that's usually risky because you don't even know if there are other people doing the same thing for you to hit, and nobody was winning 3 games without taking some risks on retaliation. With Sentry it's probably more like 500 HP for 100% chance to hit 1300 because he at least doubles the numbers of games you can reasonably expect to win before any retaliation, and because getting 1300 is assured there's also no shortage of other players going for that so you can find better targets. This will hurt them in the long run because if the 4* ever did become the best characters they'd have lost significant money from all the 4*s obtained back when it was way easier to get them, though at this point it's probably too late for D3 to cry about all the X Force covers they gave away for the cheap in the past.0

Screen cap is kinda tedious so I'll just say that 1st was jtvincible at 1736, 5th was 1351, and 10th was 1201. I managed to grab 4th with 1422. I even managed to be hp neutral, although if I didn't have a full pile of +1 all ap boosts sitting around I suppose it'd have cost a bit more. When you can get in 4 super boosted sentry matches in one hop and you're getting 45+ per match you climb pretty fast.0

Tonzil, I was in the same bracket as you, finished 13th with 1108.
I very rarely don't make top 5, but that was always gonna be tough with a relatively new character as a reward. I didn't shield hop tho, just flat out went for 1100 then shielded till the end.0 -
My bracket was not the worst, but not good, either:

Mine was mild by the standards of the rest of the people here:

1637 for 6th place, that is rough Beee. Hah your bracket only needed literally half that Ben. I seem to recall mine having 1200+ for top 50

Well part of that is some guys feel the score means something. The vast majority don't really care about any score beyond the reward attached to it as it's an arbitrary and meaningless number in the scheme of things. I like many other tend to go either to the level I need for an award (I didn't feel like fighting out with 3 alliance members for a fury respec this time and I already had more red CM covers than I wanted so I was content with top 25. I just went to 1100 for the beast cover and topped it off at the end for top 10 for the hp)
Some guys like competing against each other both within an alliance and against another alliance for this score - probably dates back to old arcades where you could see your name on the machine for a while (until it got unplugged during cleaning) but that's probably it. It's unfortunate that the game allows and even promotes for more spending to achieve a higher score - not equating to ability but rather - how much you spend = what score you can achieve.
Obviously the bracket scores directly reflect the rewards. This past one was extremely high because first place fury coupled with CM (who was only award prior to this 2 times total I think) CM pvp will probably have a ton of people at 1300+ for Blue fury as Loki is utter garbage. The trickle down is unfortunate for the guys who need those other covers - to just get sold for iso by the guy who needed only that first place award but that's how the awards are set up.
Brackets are getting harder indeed but I'm curious to see Screen captures of any easy brackets if they're out there? What's the lowest score anyone had to win their bracket this time through?0 -
No screen cap due to the tediousness of it but
#1. franckynight - 1501
#5. mags1587 - 1212
#10. Sable Red - 1004
That's the spread. Ridiculous. Something needs to be done and sooner than later0 -
