roster advice, who to level?

hi all, been playing for 136 days now (f2p) and have a few unleveled 3stars with a decent amount of covers that i think could be playable if leveled so let me know your thoughts about who i should invest iso into next. i'm thinking the obvious choice is xforce after the buff but i've got patch for now. wish they were keeping cmags' purple cause i dont have a strong purple ability. anyways, here's who i got- (thanks!)

go-to team:
patch- 4/4/5, lvl 160
BP- 5/3/5, lvl 160
(afraid to max these guys cause i'm not ready to face all 166 opponents)

these are guys who i havent leveled to cap yet:
sentry- 4/5/2 @130, cap @140
spidey- 3/5/5 @122, cap @166
doom- 5/2 @91, cap @102
hood- 5/2/5 @87, cap @153 (want to get to 3/5/5 tho)
punisher- 5/4/2 @82, cap @140 (don't really get pun's popularity but maybe cause i havent used him at high levels)
psylocke- 5/3/2 @80, cap @127
torch- 5/2/2 @76, cap @114
GSBW- 3/2/5 @74, cap @127
xforce- 4/2/2 @70, cap @168 (seems to be the obvious choice here?)
cmags- 2/2/5 @65, cap @114 (not sure how nerf effects things)
hulk- 2/3/4 @53, cap @114

don't be afraid to max BP and Patch as they are a very good combo together cause they have no overlapping abilities(patch yellow is passive). None of the others you have are really worth putting iso into, Hood isn't useful till you get 5 blue, as overpowered as he is, Sentry is a drain on health packs which for f2p is not the best way to play the game. i would recommend just maxing patch and BP and then hoarding your iso till you get more covers for the better 3*'s you have(hood, sentry, torch, hulk)

Patch + BP is a great combo: max BRage into ROTP = 5K AOE damage.

Punpun is popular as a transition character because of his great synergy with OBW. Judgment into passive Espionage means double-dipping on Punisher's strike tiles on all blue and purple matches. Since Judgment is fairly cheap and Espionage is a passive, this combo is pretty dummy-proof on defense, too.

Hood needs at least 4 blue to be truly useful, and if you have a high-level UDaken, then 4/5/2 Sentry is actually pretty good: you don't need Sacrifice to take down most unbuffed enemies in PVP.

I'd hold off on leveling XF just yet, due to the fact that you have so few covers for him and his damage/ability strength scales with cover count.

I've found it of use to run Sentry/BP, using yellow for BP's Battleplan instead, and if greens are tough to come by (it happens!), I can still use black to wrap up the game.
Edit: just realized I basically can stick Sentry in there to scare people away if he ends up doing nothing on offense icon_lol.gif
  • thanks for the advice everyone!

so if i have patch and BP there's not much use for punisher for me yea? so i should hold off on putting iso into him and instead into someone like sentry. my udaken is at 3/1/2 so unusable at the moment.

i can get spidey to 166 but i'm guessing its better for me to save the iso for better characters down the road? just how strong are his protect tiles at 166...i find him only useful when i go up against high leveled bullseyes in pve

Check out the last section of my guide for my recommended strategy. Spidey is a bad investment since youre never using him unless hes featured. I would recommend leveling sentry as much as possible: level 5 world rupture + battleplan is probably better than patch in high point pvp. Punisher seems bad if you have patch bp already. Hold off on hood until you get 4-5 blue.

Dang OP, I'm on a similar day with you but my roster isn't nearly as developed (and I put some $$ in as well). How in the world did you pick up so many covers while f2p?

i remember just starting to play around season 1. starting from season 2 i was able to consistently get the 10pack season award. those combined with random event tokens eventually gave me a few 3 star covers among which were patch and BP. from there, it was half luck of the draw and half grinding that got me to where i'm at now. patch was the first 3star i got max covers for and lucky me he's one of the best there is to help with the transition from 2 to 3star land. it was weird, i actually just kept getting patch and BP covers. i've must've sold at least 4-5 covers for both those guys. which is super frustrating when you have so many other uncovered characters. what helped a lot was focusing on PVEs. i'd play each sub and win hp from each until i got to the point where i had close to 3000 hp and decided one day that i would start shield hopping in PVPs. which is how i got my first max patch. so for me, pve success fed into pvp success and thats kinda what i've been doing. farming iso and hp from PVEs to get 3star covers in PVP
