PSA for people looking for alliances

Rankings in previous PvP events don't tell us anything, so stop telling us you finished the latest pvp in the top 25/10/50/etc. In some brackets a top 5 finish can mean scoring 800 points, in others it requires 1500 points.

When trying to promote yourself give us actual scores. In particular, your current Season score, you score in the PvP events that are running, and your current score in the shield simulator. This gives commanders an actual representation of what you are capable of.

Same goes for PvE. Tell us how many points you have, not how you previously finished a PvE event.

That is all.

This should help keep the back and forth in the stickied threads out of the threads. It is very aggravating when you go to check to see what recruits are available and you see posts going back and forth that need not be in the thread!

  • This is spot on. it puzzles me why people give out their rankings instead of actual scores.

One reason I can think of is people are too lazy to look up their actual scores and just give the ranks instead which is easier to remember. Apparently being too lazy to look up actual scores to market yourself is a good implication to not have you.
Another reason is deliberately trying to conceal your actual performance. We have had such people in the alliance put up scores that are hardly believable to net them even the ranks they say they are getting. so never again.

Maybe we could get this stickied for newer players looking for an alliance?

To add to the PSA, many new players find they cannot reply to or make PMs, or make posts. There is a 5 post minimum and a thread set up in the off-topic area specifically designed to aid new forumites in meeting this requirement:

    viewtopic.php?f=15&t=13454

And I agree this topic needs to be stickied!
  • As one one of the newer players looking for an alliance, I thought this was very useful. I don't really know what people are looking for in making their decisions, so this is good to know.

Edited main post to add in what Beast said. Very good point as well, especially since the Single Player LF Alliance thread has been devolved into back and forths between players lately.

I think this is exactly the reason Arkon4. I see all the time people saying this or that but no real info on their roster make up or their actual scores. Just "I'm looking for a top 100 to mooch off of request." Many a times alliance commanders post to please list rosters, current alliance to view rosters/scores, current scores, previous scores. This is always ignored due to people hiding something in my opinion. Guess what folks, if we can't verify anything then we aren't going to recruit you.

Thanks for making this post as this has been an issue for many months.

One more bit of advice, if you are currently in an alliance, send the alliance name with your PM. We can search your current alliance and actually view your roster, which saves a lot of time trying to type out what you actually have. Some alliances will just want to know your top characters, but some will be interested in if you have the more recent covers to unlock the 'essential' PVE nodes, some might want to know if you have a diverse roster and have retained characters that may be valuable in events such as Balance of Power or Combined Arms.

Remember, it is not just about getting into an alliance, it is about getting into an alliance that fits you, and one in which you fit them. The alliance finds the most success when members are sustainable, where the goals of the individual match the goals of the alliance. My alliance still has many original members, and we have had exceptionally low turnover thanks to this.

bumping this so prospects can read it.
  • This thread, so much...

Giving the right information is the most important thing about finding the alliance for you.

Maybe putting together a template? It works in IT land to keep techs on the same page. I.e.

    Username:
    Roster Slots:
    Last pvp score:
    Last pve score:
    Last season score:
    Preferred minimum score:

Just an example. Organization is definitely needed!
  • I've also noticed a lot of people asking to be in a top 100 alliance with a season score of 4000 or less. Were 85th and our lowest member will probably will hit 5500-6000 before the season is over. If you're asking to be in a top 100 alliance, you probably want to be able to hit at least 7500 a season. My 2 cents...

Keep in mind that new players probably don't use this forum much and probably don't know the degree that this is important stuff. When I went to join my first 20-person alliance through Facebook, I really didn't know this stuff, and honestly thought that my rank would explain itself.

Luckily, the commander didn't consider it hiding or being lazy, they simply asked me the scores. Long story short, been with them three months, I'm now their number one in season seven (over 7000 points) and I am a better player because of it. Compare that to two groups that booted me out without explanation before, well...

People are at all different levels with the game, so assuming the worst in them won't foster a better community.

I agree posting the scores are more important than ranks though.
