Managed to still hit 1331 to gain IW cover. Got sniped at the end and didn't even get the hit confirmation until after the PvP was over.
  • Yeah...so... I think I had maybe the fluffiest of brackets?

Played up to 790 something, left loaner Beast (because he's better than leveled Beast), Sentry/Hood out. Hit 4 times, for +20something. Started my run at 822, made it to 1227 before I was out of health packs, and didn't get hit. Shielded. 3 hours later did 3 fights, broke 1300, shielded. Broke last minute for one last fight, which I didn't really need, and likely won't affect my season standing anyway.
Picked up Fury and a couple usable Marvz covers for 2 shields and maybe 2 sets of +boosts. So in the red for 50 HP on this one to get my last yellow Fury (2 blue/purple to go).

Pretty sure at least 2 people in my bracket went unshielded for the last hour or so.

Nope, mine was even fluffier. First was at 947, with 10th at an unbelievable 691 points! I finished at 5th with a "measly" 800 points
  • Another PvP event ended, and I still can't figure out how european players can actively compete in anything.

Went to bed @ 610 pt with 6 hours left - because that's what people usually do - and woke up at 440 pt, which ranked me 156th.

An 8 hour shield to hold on 610 points does seem like a waste. So I wonder, how you guys manage?

No. 8 hour shield is vital for EU players. Unless you wanna sacrifice your sleep.

    Also: tanking.
  • Well, I sure see why you'd suggest shielding.

But why tanking? I mean, I can get to 600+ with no major issues - the issue is I'm out of the last hours and get bashed to the face non-stop.

yeah, I was going to ask what approach the EU players take. Last season, presumably because I was new, I was able to grab a couple of top 100 finishes with relatively low scores (400+). I'm scoring similarly now, but that's because I get spanked while I'm sleeping so finish 150+.

I know it's a lengthy process to get to the position where you bag 3* covers most tournaments, but seems like a lot of HP to spend for what is likely only a single cover (or two covers if you're in a top 100 alliance)

Depending on your roster, with tanking you can even get to 600 AND not use shield, thus saving yourself some HP.

fellow EU player here. in the past i've found that climbing from 400 to 1000 wasn't so bad, maybe up to 5 retals along the way depending on the strength of your roster but made it there with a health pack or two to spare. i would make the climb before going to bed and throw up an 8 hour shield and that typically was enough to place top 10, sometimes even top5. but now with these fury awards and the xforce buff it seems a score of 1000 is good enough for only top25 since everyone seems to be gunning for 1300 or top placement. which sucks on two counts- 1, gotta spend more hp to shield hop, and worse, 2, if you're an eu player you cant even shield hop when it counts towards the end unless you're not sleeping. the difficulty with climbing early is that you paint a huge target on your back for getting hit and there arent many points available from matches to let you climb further, unless you have one of those max sentry/hood/daken combos, which i dont icon_neutral.gif

edit- agree with the comments about tanking. makes the climb to a higher score way easier

I have no patience at all, so in the past have always made the PVP climb early then just tried to cling on. Did the opposite with this one, jumped up to 300ish on Saturday night, only got hit once overnight, then pushed up to 550 Sunday morning. Hoped to make a late charge last night for top 100 but just got absolutely crucified by 166ers making their own late push

Certainly made the push to 500 odd easier leaving it that late, so will try that in future. At least with this next PVP it finishes when I'm on the train home from work so it's possible to have a late push without waking the kids!

Normally for the ones finishing at 6am I do this. Does not seem to matter when I join my mains are always brutal - This one required 1459 for top 10 and 1648 for top 5. Climb to a round 600-700 points in the first run. Come back some time latter at which point I be knock back to 400-500 points depending on defensive team. Climb to 900 - 1000 points about 12 hours from the end. Then shield hop to somewhere between 1100 - 1300 depending on which covers I need then put up an 8 hour shield and call it a night.
  • EU player here. I almost completely missed this event due to assuming it was going to finish today at a decent time, but when I realised it only had 9hrs left last night I entered the event, steamrolled my way up to 900+ using LDaken and Patch self-heal team (and about 3 health packs) and then threw up the obligatory 8hr shield. Ended up making HP in terms of rewards from progress, placing and alliance.

If you're from the EU and don't want to spend a load on shields then it's best to enter the event very late (as long as your MMR isn't too high and gives you max lv 3*s from the start of your grind).

Anyways, being in the UK/EU makes you a 2nd (/3rd) class citizen in the world of MPQ so better get used to it. You'll struggle with ALL PvE end times, pay more for your HP/ISO (when you do the currency conversion) and have to put up longer shields in most PvPs you play. It's just great.
  • too bad that when euro players finally get a good pvp end time the awards are loki icon_evil.gif
  • Oh, the irony.
Last time a PvP event was EU favored it rewarded Doom icon_lol.gif

I guess the 8 hrs shield is the only viable option, then.

You're welcome for those points on your last hop Ben. Too bad I was unshielded... icon_e_sad.gif

Sorry, you had been shielded for ages; I thought you still were. If I had realized you were on the forums I would have let you know ahead of time.

    Wut? That's not real...

What's with people with 160 Chars not being able to reach 500? I never tank and It's mainly 2 Star teams up to 700 for me.

As for EU Players, you need to put up a shield. Even when Events end in the middle of the day I always put up a 3 hour shield because it's impossible to play during the last half hour.

Decided to chase Slobofix for first. It was a grind and expensive (still less than buying the Fury cover), but in the end I came out on top. Not sure if she decided to let me have it or quit fighting for it, but when she was fighting me for it up until the last 10 min I'll take the win.

BIG thanks to The Valeyard, the rest of the Djangos and the GFCers that supported me when I was ready to give it up.

    It's real PPPlaya playa...
TooCoo1 jumped Beee at the last hour and Harada78 took an extra spot at the same time. I thought Shamsali was going to overtake Armando at the last moment... but a 40+ node at that height might've been rare.

Its very real. If you check my post above you see the number match up as in fact it was the bracket I was in. If you could scroll down a bit you see me sitting in 15 place on 1130 points. Since the current event has fury at 1300 points it could get even worst as I know I be going for 1300 points this time instead of 1100.
  • I was already worried it might be real since it was my bracket icon_razz.gif

Firmly out of Top25 with 800+ points.
