Color Combos -- How to Fill in Everything

In the power color chart (repeated below), there are gaps. Here's one possible color rejiggering that would give every color combo to at least one character.

111/___/___/111/___/111 - Hood -- Dormammu’s Aid (Blue -> Purple)

888/888/___/888/___/___ - Magneto (Blue -> Purple)
___/___/888/___/888/888 - Doctor Doom gets a Green power.

Other possibilities
888/888/___/888/___/___ - IM40 -- Ballistic Salvo (Blue -> Purple)

Hulk should have Purple. Pistols in the game are usually Yellow. Hood's drain should be Purple. Doctor Doom is iconically Green. Loki needs a Purple power, and one is available. IM40 Salvo does boardshaking which is often purple. Spiderman needs something other than bandages. The above changes solve everything, and fills in all the gaps.

The current color breakdown for powers. [Brackets] have strong tiles in this set of colors. Bolds have 3 active powers. Characters with the same numbers cover all colors.

Can you provide examples where purple does board shaking similar to Ballistic Salvo? There's the Loki / former CMags style where they swap tiles. Then there's the BWGS / MN Mags that do targeted color tile change. I can't think of others that do his style of board shake up that are purple. It's more of a red skill a la Captain Marvel or Human Torch.

I was gonna nitpick on that one in particular as well. 3 tiles isn't really board shaking. Sounds more like HT/C.Mags/Sentry/She-Hulk. If anything, it is a variation of C.Storm's blue: AOE +Stun (at lvl 5)

She-Hulk I feel is an odd one. It seems her green should be purple or blue (AP drain / steal + healing), her red should be green (a la Storm's mass shattering), and her blue should be black (a la Trickery).

Of course, we're approaching this from something akin to Magic's color wheel where each color is associated with a specific mechanic type or theme. I can't recall if that's ever been said by the devs that it is how they design abilities, or whether we're taking coincidental patterns and inferring improper correlations.

I don't have a link, but Ice has said that the type of power it is determines the color.

I feel that categorization - "messing with the board" - is pretty broad. Adding things to the board isn't the same as destroying a small number of tiles. Plus, IM40 is the only one from that list who's a big tanky guy. The rest are more support style characters. None of the characters you listed really mimic the mechanic of big AOE nuke + small number of tiles destroyed.

Purple is more evasion / protection. Very defensive in nature. Blue has often-times had a more "technical" feel to it (e.g. Anti-grav device, Ballistic Salvo, Technopathic Strike). If anything, I feel like his blue should be changed to green or black since that's where most of the big AOE nukes are (Black Panther, BWGS, Thor, even Punisher's black).

Red Yellow Black would be a pretty nice change for him, honestly.

I agree, would be good for IM40, and fits his color scheme better. We could leave IM40 out of this. I don't see a good way to fill in this last slot.

How about Nick? Demolition could be changed to Red. That would drop the Y/U/P category to just Falcon if you wanna give Spidey Green.

I'd rather see Doctor Doom get a third power on green and change strong color from purple to green.

This is an interesting idea, and it works, but I dunno how many would go for it. I've used it enough times that it feels like a blue power, now.

Few would object to Loki and Doctor Doom getting third powers.
Not too many would get upset to a change to the color of Hood and Hulk passive powers.
Not too many would get upset about changing the color of Spidey's and BWGS' worst powers.

A lot of people want Magneto to have a purple power. His colors are Red and Purple. I loved his Blue power, but it's time to make a clean break.
