It's the 5th!

I'm looking forward to trying out the new x-force! Though not looking forward to the new Daken.

I wonder what the chances are that they will follow through on their stated release date.

I would prefer that they don't release it if they haven't tested it fully, as we all have seen the bugs that they miss.

  • Today's the day? I knew I have checked the weather report. I would have brought my coat if I knew heck was going to freeze over.

I still say, "Classic Daken keep fighting the nerf bat, you can do it!"

Today was the "estimated" release date. Not the definite one. Keep in mind if we dont get it today, then Monday will be the soonest. This being a weekend and all.

Of course, the days not even half way over. Only 10am here.

The timing of this probably has to do with getting Apple, Google, and Steam all coordinated so there aren't large populations of players on different versions.

The Patch notes said anticipating no later than today. However as Colognoisseur just said, it's reliant on the 3 platforms being in sync.

Something I used to do when I was a kid was if, say I had a bad note from school. I knew I had to tell my parents and I knew they would be angry. So I would tell them as soon as I got in the car. That way, by the time they finished picking up my older sisters and got home, they had time to cool down a bit.

Now today, lets say I own a mobile game company. If I was going to do something i knew the players are not going to like, then Friday at 4:50 pm would be the perfect time. That way I do whatever it is, then immediately head out the door until Monday morning. The weekend will give the players time to cool off a bit.

Not saying that is what D3 is doing, just saying that's what I would do. icon_twisted.gif

but now that I think about it, and i may be wrong, but didnt we get the TU patch on a Friday?

Since Steam generelly doesn't give a toss about patches, google being pretty much "yeah, do whatever" too, the holdup is due to Apple dragging their feet.

They said the ETA was unknown, but the 5th was the "anticipated" date.

ETA stand for "estimated" time of arrival.

And, the day isn't even half over yet.

Yea, that's why bad mpq news and bad "changes" always happen on Friday. They drop the bomb, let the forum blow up. They come in on Monday and just move on.

That and I think many times ICEIX does not have time any more to answer questions during the week, so he'll stay late of Friday after normal business hours to answer questions since he is "free" from his other duties at that point. His thanks for working extra lots of the time to communicate with forum...torches and pitchforks. He's a better man than I. If I knew that was going to be the case, 5pm comes rolling around, and it's tgif, see ya Monday.

If it is today, it's pretty ironic that I just pulled a ***Magneto from simulator pack (surprised it isn't the featured characters).
  • Better get a few more PatchNeto clears in the Simulator just in case...
  • I really cannot see them changing them during an event again. They always get serious flak for doing that.

I would, probably after the simulator, put a stop to all events for 24H and give everyone a chance to upgrade.
  • They always get serious flak and then do it anyways. Wouldn't bet on the wait till after a sub or event ends.
  • The wording was 'no later than 5th' so today should be the last day.

I don't buy this synchronizing different platform is a big deal unless Apple has a policy of only releasing patches on Tuesdays and Steam has a policy of only releasing patches on Fridays, but in that case no amount of effort would've been able to get around such bizarre schedule. This is a pretty big change so they should've been able to schedule a day long time ago, and while all the involved entities may have pretty cumbersome processes, that sure didn't stop all the other patches in the past from going live.

I think at least part of the issue is that Google and Apple review updates of apps for violations, spyware, or other vulnerabilities and the time it takes them to do that varies.

Sure but all the other 59 patches went through fine, so unless they're trying to sneak in some spyware in at the same time there shouldn't be anything especially difficult about this patch even if it has a much bigger impact on the game compared to other ones. Since R60 is supposed to be a big deal I'd assume they'd have alloted even more time than usual to ensure it gets whatever date they're shooting for.

That would imply they ever actually come in some time other than a couple hours when they drop the bomb, instead of disappearing for weeks until the next bomb

How long you want them to stay?

I want new PVE's, a fixed MMR, a fixed token system, etc., etc. I also want them doing what they need to do to keep the game going so I don't have to get one of those lives that other people have. They cannot do that if they're on here. Hmm...not to sure they can do that even when not here....but certain they cannot do that while they are here.

They also need "first party" approval, I.e. Marvel.

I don't think Marvel cares, as long as the license fees come rolling in.

This is most likely a holdup on Apple's side, what with the new iDevices coming out and all.
And the devs being in the office is nice, but Apple will never approve anything on weekends.
  • Better lock in those PVE scores while you can. I assume that they originally wanted to compare metrics from the first half of Sim with the metrics from post-patch Sim.

    Because metrics.
