It was (Hopefully) our last hurrah. Speaking with people around the community and people with in X-men the consensus is that it's time to stop this pointless endless grind. We're all tired of it. People are not only leaving to play casually but also just flat out walking away.
Whether the highest individual pvp scores are 1500 or 2500 the alliance placements in the top 10 are generally set and everyone is happy with it. There's nothing in the #1 or #2 position that's worth worry about much. Of course I think everyone in X-men would love to continue being in the #1 and #2 spots and I believe that Raiders, Sparta, Venoms are all very happy with how their alliances perform and who they have in their respective teams.
The play time and spending has really gotten out of control for many people. I believe that some people spend above their comfort zone because they want to "fit in" or because the "thrill" of competing and scoring high in PvP makes them feel a pressure to do so. We don't ask people to score 2000. We have minimums in PvP like most of the other alliances do but I think people put pressure on themselves based on what a few others are doing. It's time for that to change. As a community we can continue to do what we're doing (Such as playing this game and getting the rewards we are already getting) but meanwhile we can spend half as much time playing the game and probably half as much money.
If the highest scoring X-men are 1500 pts then those people from Raiders, Sparta, Venoms, and all the other alliances will have that score too. Team scores will be tighter and maybe more competitive but honestly I don't think people care all that much anymore. Actually I think some of us might enjoy the game again if we had to sweat for an hour or two near the end of the PvP while someone tries to catch us.
So to sum things up... this is a call out to all my fellow competitors that the time has come for us to all scale back and I hope that we start to see that now with the Balance of Power PvP. It's probably long over due and I think we'll all be a lot happier and healthier. Whether the person be from Xmen or any other alliance I would feel very sad if 5 years from now some guy can't buy a house because he's still paying off CC debt for shield hops that he can hardly even remember doing. I know that we have the support of the community in this and hope that we can all continue to enjoy the game (Or at least enjoy playing with our respective teams) without over extending ourselves.0 -
I agree wholeheartedly with absolutely everything WR has just posted.
Why are we continuing to grow, evolve, play more and sadly spend more for a game that refuses to give back and reward the community? NEVER love something that won't love you back.
The peer pressure of wanting to back up your team and not fail your friends and alliance members has possessed too many of us for far too long. It's time to break the cycle and cut the chord folks. And more importantly....... Save your precious time and money for your friends, family and overall well-being.
The scores won't stop getting more ridiculous until we as a community decide they stop.
Walking away is not the answer unless that's your only option. Scaling back and spending less and not letting a match-3 game control your life is the answer In my opinion. It's a fun game and good time-killer. Shouldn't be much more then that.
What are we all fighting so hard for anyways? Especially with the recent nerfs, updates and team-ups etc...... Not to mention the highly underwhelming season structure.
Obviously these are only my opinions but I cringe to think of those of you with kids and families and what your financial/family situation would begin to look like if this trend continues....
Just my thoughts and backing up a strong post from Worldrunner not trying to start a negative debate.
Thank you for your time.0 -

Props to Worldrunner and the rest of the X-Men, also to our fellow T10 alliances, for considering the effect on the community as a whole and also on a personal level.
Here's hoping that reigning in the scores a little will improve the quality of MPQ life by a lot.
And 1500 is still high enough to let points trickle down so everyone will be able to reach the 1100 cover, or the 1300 if necessary, so that's good, too0 -
So instead of PVP minimums are we now going to see PVP maximums?0
-
PVP maximums are definitely something I'm strongly considering with my team..... On one hand I don't want to take away any of my members free will to score crazy.
But on the flip side I'm more concerned with sustainable and comfortable play. I would rather keep my team together and reduce burnout then see absurd scores . It's hard because I'm proud of my team when they put forth great effort but worry they do too much.
My minimum is 800...... And the rewards stop at 1300. I see no reason for ANYONE to go further then that. So I think a 1300 pvp maximum is not unrealistic at this point. It's a tough call to make as I don't wanna restrict anyone.... Maybe just slow people down significantly.0 -
Here's an idea, the first person to reach 1300 gets #1, locked and done. they don't need to play anymore or shield, it's over, go have a life.
Same for the next person to get 1300, #2 is locked in, etc. etc. etc.0 -

Here's the problem.
I am a strong believer that while X-men attitudes haven't helped it's not X-men that makes us all dislike this game.
Sure they where easy to project the blame on but they are just gaming a broken system.
It's the devs that deserve the backlash.
There has been debates forever that X-men are cheaters. worldrunner knows where I stand on that debate.
If the devs has a good reputation there wouldn't be a debate.
Taking top spots with a beginners rosters + sentry. Xmen didn't create this issue they just exploited it.
amex-men as we affectionately call them at shield didn't make this a pay to win game....they just decided to play the game the way it's designed.
They just expose all we hate about this game. Sure they play the villains at times and certain members stoke the fires but that's all superfluous to the real issues with this game.
The game is dying for many of us. So let's rage against the dying of light!
Btw at shield we have no point expectations, just personality expectations. I am quite proud of that0 -
Very worldly post, WorldRunner. Humble even.0

finally a wise consensus from top allies. I think i heard choir of angels ^^.
While u guys from top allies manage to get 1500+ to get top 5(definitely) with cash by shieldhopping, lot of ppl join late and sneak in for top5/10 with just 900-1000pts even without single shield.
And that's a smart play guys, think about it.
Again wise decision, cheers.
worldrunners, reminds me of crazy pingpong retaliations in c.arms pvp. I count about 10 within 1 hours, thats fun ^^. Let's do it again sometimes,lol.0 -

How am I supposed to easily get to 1300 if I can't queue up three 45+ point matches?0 -
I find the Worldrunner post interesting in that so many people are just willing to accept the slow down based on one post.
I could see how some of the players within the x-men alliance might feel the same way but it would be surprising if ALL the top alliances felt this way at the same time. I would expect the result here is that several alliances will still post 1800+ PvP results while some of the more common x-men alliances fall behind on the rankings.
Perhaps I'm wrong though...it's entirely possible the higher tier of alliances are all in greater communication and have an understanding despite this requiring hundreds of players all feeling the same way.
Note: It's a given that the BoP PvP will have lower scores because of the nature of the event.0 -
Well I'm in no position to tell anyone what they can and can't score. I think everyone wants to slow down though.
Will people still score 1800+ in pvps? I don't know. I do know that I won't be one of them. I enjoy the game and my team enough to keep playing but I'm really looking to do the minimum now as opposed to pushing all day to ensure top placement on the leaderboard.
When I first started going for high scores there were people who were slowing down and telling me that I should too. So I'd be a hypocrite if I wasn't ok with someone from X-men saying "You know... I'm not burnt out on the game yet I want to keep playing at this pace"0 -

The communities in MMOs can be fantastic, as can the comradery and competition. Finding the tactics to advance to the top and stay there can be a very enjoyable challenge. But, MMOs can suck you in deep. I've been there with WoW. Not letting down the Team/Alliance/Guild can drive some to make foolish life choices.
I'm glad to see you all grow out there. Enjoy all the parts of life in moderation.

As of this moment, about 4 hours left in Trial by combat. The highest scoring xman is 1640 and Worldrunner is 1580.
If I was betting man, which I am lol. I would have bet most of the xmen would have forgotten this thread and most of them be 1900 to 2500 in the PvP. Ya know the old saying "a tiger can't change his stripes". If their scores hold and they don't hit 2500 then they did mean what they said here and props to you guys.
Haha, ironic giving props to someone NOT hitting 2500 when they can! The question then is, is the game boring to you when you only get to 1600?0 -
Some Xmen hit 1400-1500 without spending a dime in some events including myself. But that was generally predicated on others with high scores spending HP on shields so there were targets for me. This made it much easier for me to climb an take 1st or earn rewards. Obtaining that score HP positive or neutral will not be possible any longer if there are no high targets.
However, I was in favor of this scaling back when we discussed it internally. I have seen way too many people walk out the door after last season. This game can burn you out badly if you go all in. This is the same reason XM generally don't try to compete in PVE. We want a happy home. We do one thing very well, and that's more than enough.0 -

One week later ... I don't think we'll have any trouble finding those matches vudu.0
