End of Dark Reign PVE???

So, as we start counting down to this ridiculously long, 9-day Brotherhood event, I got to thinking. What's the next PVE going to be?? Will it be another Dark Reign re-hash??? OR!!!! Are we finally going to get a new story involving the Marvel Universe??? Isn't that the whole reason we dropped the Dark Reign in the title?? Thoughts....

    We'll eventually get another non-Dark Reign PVE, but they've been pretty slow making new PVEs - maybe one every couple months? - and we had one at the beginning of the month (Deadpool). We'll be getting Dark Reign reruns for a while, and they'll probably continue the story on top of that.

    I actually really dislike the multi title events like dark reign. Most of the time these events suffer from a case of too many cooks spoiling a broth. You get your favourite titles getting taken over by different artists and writers taking over a title, leading to a very inconsistent break in a comic book run just so they can shoehorn some tenous link to the event.

    Frankencastle anyone?

    I agree with what you're saying. But a game like MPQ benefits from the multi title events because of it's diverse roster of characters.

    Since ISO-8 Brotherhood first ran in February, we have had 1 (one!) new chapter - Prodigal Sun in May. If we are generous and give them a 3month sitting on their **** and not doing anything, sorry "development" window, then we would have been due a new PvE in August. But probably the Deadpool event sucked out all their creative juices and we'll have to wait until November before they manage to put out a new event.

    As I've said it before, it's not a paucity of material that's the problem - and it's not PvE storyline that has caused them to drop the Dark Reign moniker. It's Characters; which let's face it is the only thing that's being developed around here and even then we've skipped out of the usual 2week cycle...

    I think we're technically in the 2-week (or at least every-other-PVE) schedule; it's just that Fury counted, and most of us on the forums had him from his "preview." But they were also consistently doing a every-other-new-character-is-lazy for a while, too, and that has ended (at least temporarily), and that may slow down the release schedule, since they actually have to design every character, as opposed to every other character.

    I wonder how hard it is to honestly design a character. For one, I do believe all your artwork is already done. You just have to implement it into your system. I think the hardest thing to do would be the powers. What to do, how it works, is it too pathetic or too strong? That would be the biggest issue to me. But we have a lot of great suggestions out there, so I think it would be easy enough to take the ideas out there and apply them.

    Like Ben Grimm said, I think we are in the 2-week cycle. They were counting Fury. This week was Patch, and they've already announced there will be a Heroic with Beast as the reward next. They've also announced that they have like three other characters queued up, so I think they're going to stick to the 2-week cycle for at least a few more months, if not indefinitely.
