So i've been enjoying the weak enemy powers in this pve. -93 pt devour from level 100+ venom has been sweet along with -136 onslaught, lol. now I am being forced to update the app, even though I have experienced no other issues. I am not within wifi (typing this from work comp) range and I shouldn't have to use my data. So i cannot play until I get home unless I use my data. I shouldn't be punished because of their bug. my game has been functioning fine as is, i shouldn't be forced to update

Then you should have updated previously because you KNEW, eventually, you would be forced to update.

You chose to take advantage of a bug that made the game easy for you.

You should now suffer the consequences of your decision in silence.

Lets be honest mate, patch is available 3 days and I saw you were playing during this time so you COULD update earlier. You choosed to exploit bug and now complaining about YOUR choice.

You can update whenever you choose. You just can't play the game again until you do.

I will admit that I did the same - I let the update go for two days to enjoy the tiny kitten claws of Ares and the TUs (though I didn't much enjoy my own TUs being nerfed, it seemed like a small price to pay.) It didn't so much allow me to win fights that I couldn't have won, but certainly I escaped from fights a lot less hurt.

Sunday morning, when I needed to get off the game for an hour or two, I updated. I knew it would force me sooner or later, and I figured it was time.

It could have been worse - if you're forced into an update in the middle of the fight the game treats it like retreating - i.e. you lose the fight and the game hits you with a big health-point loss.

This is an obvious bug. Don't blame you for holding off on updating, why not, but don't whine about a huge function of the game that was broken being fixed.

Come on, man!

You know you were exploiting a bug. Your complaint here isn't based some principle of privacy and ownership.

As someone who has played MANY online games, the norm is that when updates occur to fix an exploit, you don't have a choice. They will shut down the servers and the game to fix it.

At least here, you got to exploit the bug for 2 days longer than you should have had the option to.

And you can update at your convenience. Again, you chose not to do it when you had WiFi. And you are choosing not to use your data plan to download it.

Those are all choices you made and are making.

MPQ has chosen to only allow you a short window to play without the update before you must update it to continue playing. I think they were more than fair to give you ample time to get to a place and time where you did have WiFi.

Considering, based on past experience, the force should have been sometime Saturday, you got 2 extra days of benefit. Celebrate that you got lucky and nobody worked at D3 this weekend. Additionally, you had 72 hours to update "at your convenience".

Whining like this makes the mobile players look like a bunch of tinykittys.

Most games do allow you to update at your own leisure, except you can't even play the game if you're using an older version of it in an always-online environment. Try to play WoW or any MMORPG with an earlier version of the game, for example, and see if any server lets you in without requiring you to download the patch. You can hold off the decision to load the patch as long as you want, but you sure can't play the game.

It's pretty bizarre they don't employ this model to begin with.

This is pretty much my sentiments. You must literally mean "app", because there's no game with any kind of competitive scene (let alone being always-online) that allows you to play without being fully updated. Besides that, stop complaining you have to play fairly, how it should be, like everyone else.
