I seen many ppl complaining about the poor corporate comms on D3 part.

Maybe because my prior experience with games had been bad, but D3 comms effort is typical of a company with their resources and I see it as decent.

Can anyone tell me a company of similar size, with a gaming population of over a million (I don't remember true numbers, just a random guess), having a forum AND able to provide good comms? I really like to know and read more about it (no sarcasm here).

(This far, my best experience is with Cryptozoic for their kickstarter project Hex. The CEO talks a more to the community on the forum, but it is still in beta phase).

I believe Path of Exile might be a good example. It's a F2P ARPG similar to Diablo 2 and was created by an indy company in NZ (Grinding Gear Games).

Since apparently we're stuck on diablo-likes, how about Gazillion, the makers of Marvel Heroes? Their communication and responsiveness is night and day compared to Demiurge.

Brevik (again with the diablo), their CEO, posts multiple times a day on their forums AND other places, like reddit and the like. Not only do they have a weekly stream, he and his wife often also stream the game on off hours hours a week (whereas it seems like sometimes, DU doesn't even play their own game)

DU do not even QA the patches because if they did no way a bug as obvious as the one introduced in R59 would have made it into the wilds.

MH2015 rebranded the game presumably to get rid of the bad reviews on MH and they also seem to be far more aggressive at removing negative posts. The game also expects a lot more money to have an enjoyable experience unless you start out with a very low standard as you only get one character to start with. Every game has its own dirty laundry out there. Having a guy, even if it's the CEO, saying 'we really listen to you guys' doesn't change any of that. I know plenty of games that have important figure that constantly listen and then they end up burning all the bridges anyway.

I don't think having someone important that play their own game matters very much unless there was a way to force them to suffer the bad parts of the game. For example if D3 have a dev challenge where IceIX must score 1300 or better in Too Many Secret while using less than 300 HP or he gets fired, that'd be very useful form of 'dev that play their own game' because we'll probably see some changes to PvP immediately. Otherwise, someone casually coming in at #72 in PvP or PvE isn't going to have any clue the insanity that plagues the top of the food chain.

Forgive me for zooming in on this for a bit and supplying some nuance:

Gazillion has a policy of not accepting hate mongering or venting (which inevitably leads to hate mongering) on their forums. If you deliver constructive arguments towards improving the game, then they will be left standing and more often than not internally debated. (A lot of stuff in Marvel Heroes was created or adjusted thanks to community influence.)

As for the costs: How much did it take again to purchase the HP and ISO to gather a complete 3* character in MPQ? A few thousand dollars? An average of 10$ buys you a complete new hero in MH. If that's too much; on average 400 Eternity Splinters, which drop at a fixed rate of approx. 1 every 8 minutes ingame, will buy you a hero for free. Or a team-up / AI partner, if that's your thing.

The only thing in the game you must buy is inventory stash tabs, which comes out at:
    $5.00 for a general purpose stash tab;
$3.00 for a tab that can only hold crafting materials; and
$3.50 for a tab that can hold hero-specific gear (which includes general purpose items that have been bound to that hero).

Sofar I've bought 2 crafting tabs and 5 general stash tabs. That's a little over $30 and at three quarters of a year played already, and still going strong, it's just as good value as a premium game like Diablo. Better infact; Diablo 3 with its expansion would've set me back roughly $90; close to triple what I've spent now...

Yeah, You can buy a whole new hero for the price of 1 cover here, so....probably not the best nit to pick

Interesting points about MH. Wanted to respond more but I have to work...

I have to point out that this is entirely false. You don't need that amount of money (1k) to have 1 3* character.

I gotten my sentry, Ldaken totally free. Won all of that from pvp and pve.

Sure you can argue that my first 2 3* were purchased (lcap and pun), but in no way did it required 1k.

Really, I consider the high price point of Mpq a deterrence to p2w. Unless you are Xmen and burn 4k hp per pvp, it's pretty much a level playing field for f2p and paying players (non whale) with 2x 3* characters.

Yeah. Just like I can spend ~20hrs grinding ingame Eternity Splinters to get a character for free in Marvel Heroes.
Clearly you completely missed the point I was making. That being that Marvel Heroes has very fair pricing on obtaining (complete) characters with hard money compared to doing the same in MPQ and that burning the game on alleged high cost of microtransactions is not fair.

Really? I didn't think it was fair pricing... umm, in case I got it wrong, is Marvel Heroes the game which is like Diablo? Click and slash kind of game?

When I saw the pricing, I was horrified. Because one character was going at $80 dollars... And that's just one character.

I probably get it wrong so please correct me if I was looking at the wrong game.

Back to mpq, I think you also completely missed the point. you construe fair pricing as "the amount of money to purchase a max level character". That is not my definition. My definition of fair pricing is the amount of money I need to pay to enjoy the game optimally. And my personal opinion is that mpq is appropriately priced because of the generous reward structure.

You were probably looking at one of the packs that has 4 heroes, and other goodies like costumes (which are the things that actually cost lots of money) and boosts. Individual heroes are like $5-15
