Visual effects strains the eyes!

All right its time to make a serious feedback, if devs even care.

I have played many different games, but none come even close to compare, on how much this game stresses the eyes. Why devs made such visual effects flashing constantly? They dont care about gamers anymore? icon_rolleyes.gif

Matching gems, every hero casting special abilities, opening the rewards, the VERY intro - all of this flashes on screen with cheap effects.
What i mean is for a few miliseconds the screen turns very very bright, and thats what i mean by flashing. Of course you young gamers dont care about anything.. I would just go play some other games, but this game has a solid game mechanics and is quite interesting.

So im wondering, am i too late to convince them to fix this issue, or they wont even look at this until thousands of other gamers will start complaining? Or are you guys dont feel this problem at all?

There have been enough complaints about this that I expect we'll see them tone it down eventually.

The Hulk's Anger activation is very reminiscent of the Pokemon Seizure http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denn%C5%8D_Senshi_Porygon episode -- repeated flashy strobing lights.

We've run and will continue to run seizure and color change testing suites on our content. It's actually a requirement on consoles anyway *NOT AN ANNOUNCEMENT*, so we have all that stuff in place in any case and may as well make use of it. While some of the content is annoying to some users, we haven't seen anything actually health threatening. That being said, if some effects are too much, we can look into changing them in the future. Just because a feature or piece of content is in the wild doesn't mean it's set in stone.

Yes, I have to turn away whenever this activates. It's very disturbing.

I have to turn it away every time. The first time I saw it caused instant nausea, and it's disturbing even at an angle. I didn't mind some of the other effects, but Hulk's Anger is gruesome.
  • Totally agree the Hulk's Anger passive is too much, seizure-inducing or not...

In other threads it has been suggested to simply have an option to turn-off all ability animations (as some, in particular the passives, can get quite annoying because they either trigger so frequently and/or they take too long and interrupt the gameplay).

I'm liking this suggestion more and more... Devs, please count another vote for this feature... icon_e_wink.gif

Oh thank God my worries took some attention icon_e_smile.gif

REMEMBER: great puzzle games are NOT because of fancy blinking effects(that makes many people uncomfortable) but by story and mechanics..

Thats why best puzzle up to date is Puzzle Quest: Galactrix!
The game has some kind of 3D.. and so the effects are MINOR in there.

Here the game is pure 2D.. And you create PUNISHER who shoots at us literally everytime he uses a skill. And thats why you shove most harmful visual effects right in our faces..
  • add me to the list of Hulk's Anger Passive is painful.

I love the idea of the hulk character but that anger passive makes me close my eyes everytime. seriously... it's too much, strobing effects like that are harsh no matter the screen brightness and especially when the room is dark. perhaps you could just do the symbol like you do thors green hammer effect? as it stands now, i press the ability i know will trigger it and close my eyes for a couple seconds...

I second this idea. Personally, the game effects don't bother me at all and I generally enjoy them (except the opening screen, which takes too darn long, but that's another discussion). I understand that some players are bothered by them, but not everybody. I would be bummed if they were toned down/eliminated. So, yes, an option for players to turn them off or on themselves would be ideal. Maybe three settings? Off completely, midway and full.
  • Fk you visual effects.
  • Most of the time when I play game, The levels of it become more interesting for me and I don't get affected from any visual effects. Even most of the time I forget about the flashing of visual effects in my eyes.
  • Or maybe they can come up with a "on/off" switch for effects in setting
  • I like animation, I hate flashing.

I fully agree with OP, and I'll add one more thing - black screen between loading screens. When playing at night it really hurts the eyes.
