Have we determined how much rubber banding there is in this event?0
-
Woohoo! Managed to pull Fury from the 8000 point progression token, so I was able to do those two nodes in the last 20 minutes of the sub-brackets. Only good enough to get Top 10 and 50, but this means I now have a shot at main bracket success.0

How is that strategy working out for you in the main? Right now another guy and I are back and forth for number one in the main. Had a lot of people show up out of nowhere at the end of both subs. I was number one in both until right at the end. The only thing I can figure is I got screwbanded™0 -
I must confess that I gave in and joined this PvE less than 2 hours before the end of those first subs. I realized that even though I don't care about the progression rewards or final prizes I can still score some ISO that I would not get if I skipped the whole event. Plus there's this slim chance to get Fury from sub tokens. Very slim chance, but still miles better than to score top2 in the final score.
Oh well...0 -

Imo the token % for fury is pretty decent. I mean usually get a 4 star more than 3 star for event tokens, is plenty of chances to get a token.0
-
The chance of getting Fury is better than the chance of getting any specific 3* from a heroic token, so I'm not sure what people are complaining. No you still probably won't get him, but it's at least better chance than looking any particular 3*.0

Still 45th in the main which is a nice surprise though. And it's a main bracket featuring many varieties of Taco.
I played the last 3 refreshes. Somehow I am in second in the main a few points behind coolbond. Must remind myself "I AM NOT PLAYING THIS PVE!".....
same here. i jumped in right after the 6am LR and hit 3 refreshes. No worries about reminding myself that im not playing...RL ghis week will take care of that.

I don't see anything lighter about competition this time around but that might be related to sharding and that I didn't get Nick Fury back until there was only 1 hour left on the first sub.0
-
So....I earned a special token for each of the subs. First token, I got a Modern Mags....ok, I expected that. Of course it gives out ****. Second token.....Purple FURY! Now if only I would have finished in 10th in Hulk, I'd already have 2 Fury covers!!! But oh well, happy to get that one! YAY! Let's see if I can get another!
Edit: And just like that, from the progression token...another purple Fury! This can't be true, can it?? Will I be able to get any blue Fury covers???0 -
I figure this is a good time to ask about PVE mechanics that are still a bit hazy for me, after reading Eddiemon's PVE guide.
1. Regarding the countdown durations posted on PVE missions after winning a match on one (says "2h XXm" or similar): Do these directly relate to the refresh length of the mission stack discussed in the guide? If not, how do you make an educated guess at the length of the stack refresh? If so, then these ISO-8 Brotherhood missions should be played every 2.5 hours to maximize point values, correct?
2. I initially thought that all nodes in a given sub-event share a mission stack, and completing any of the missions will remove a stack. Is this correct?
3. Assuming that the refresh duration for this event is 2.5 hours, is it then optimal to play each subevent mission ONLY ONCE every 2.5 hours?
Thanks in advance, I'm still trying to learn how to maximize my PVE play!0 -
Almost everybody in my alliance is getting a Fury cover besides me.0

Ignoring rubberband which changes as you're doing missions (goes down if you have more points), the base points of a mission is depleted by 20% each time you did it, and it takes 12 hours to recover 100% of the points, so it works out to 2 hours 24 minutes per 20%. Therefore, let's say a mission has base point of 100. You do it once and earn 100 points, and now it's worth 80 points with 2H 24M to go. If you do it again you'd get 80 points and it's now worth 60 points and it'd take 4H 48M to get back to 100%.
It is best to do missions every 2H 24M and this is best illustrated with an example. Let's say there are only 2H 24M left and you can beat mission arbitarily fast thanks to courtsey autowin hack provided by D3.
You could do 5 missions immediately, and then it'd replenish 20% after 2H 24M, which you can do again. Your total points would be (100+80+60+40+20) + 20 = 320
Or, you can do the mission once, and then do it 5 times on the last possible second, for 100 + (100+80+60+40+20) = 400.
Note that you got 25% more points in the latter method even though the total number of missions done is the same in both cases (6).
From a theory point of view, you should do mission once every 2H 24M and then do them all at the very end because at that point they can no longer refresh. Of course, it doesn't do you much good to have everything planned on but running out of time at the end or worst yet, wipe out at the end. This will usually require considerable experience to figure out how many missions you can squeeze in the last 2 hours or so. In the example above, suppose you think you can only beat that mission twice before running out of health packs, then doing it twice immediately and two more at the end would get you (100+80) + (80+60) = 320, versus just doing it once, and then twice at the end (because you can only beat it twice) for 100 + (100+80) = 280. In this case saving everything for the end isn't a good idea, because you can only beat it twice anyway.0 -
Thanks for the info, Phantron! This makes considerably more sense to me now. I guess the days of optimally playing every 12h are gone, yeah? (or maybe my original optimal PVE strategy assumptions were wrong)
One additional question: I do notice that other missions in the sub-event drop in their point value when I finish a mission. Is that simply due to the rubberbanding bonus and unrelated to something like a sub-event mission stack?0 -

That's from rubberbanding goes down becase you just got more points from beating the mission.
Another caveat is that if you know you're going to be gone for extended time, you might as well do some extra clears. If you'll be gone for 5 hours, it never hurts to beat it twice since it takes 4H 48M for that to replenish so you might as well get some extra points.
I don't recommend purposely trying to play every 2H 24M unless you're shooting for top 10 or that you like playing that way.0 -

Well, I stand here ashamed of my cynicism. I drew Escape Plan from my first token. I repent!0 -
You're all making me want to use my tokens in hopes of a Fury
I know if I pull the trigger, I've got 2* glory coming at me.0 -
The guys getting Fury from the token pulls already sucked up all the luck in the forum!0

I feel you AmazeBalls. I was actually impressed with the 2.3% draw rate so i did something that i haven't even done..i purchased the 10 pack. 10 2*s later...i felt ashamed.
I pulled 2 more tokens from the Subs...2 more 2*s
Kill me now, please. I hope you have better luck.
