PVP Ranking with similar scores.

Im not quite sure if this has been addressed but I would just like some clarification.

I recently placed 27th in a PVP event despite having the exact same player points score as players ranked 26th and 25th? Both players were shielded and I was actually pushed down to 27th with a failed shield hop.

How does the game decide who has a clear cut position rank when scores are exactly the same? Im quite bothered because of the lost HP and second potential cover not awarded.
