AI can team-up with its own team members, why can't I?

I have noticed that the enemy (whether PVP or PVE) can team-up with its own team members.
Example: enemy team has Black Widow Original. You defeat her. A couple moves later, Black Widow Original hits the team with Anti-Gravity Device, healing them. Other examples I have seen include Storm Modern swooping in on a team-up hit while playing against a team containing Storm Classic.
WTH? I can't team up with my own team members (or any variation of them), so why is the AI allowed to?

  • It's a bug. It's scheduled to be fixed.

  • I do hate when this happens. However the part I hate the most is when the enemy team uses one of your characters abilities. If I can't use my team, the enemy team, or any locked then the rules need to apply for both sides. This is where a little QA goes a long way. They need to test these systems out before just tossing it out the way they do. These bugs are spotted immediately and can take weeks if not months to fix.

Another issue would be that the AI happens to always have the very best Team Ups to use while we are stuck with the worst because we cannot delete bad ones yet. I realize with the next update we can finally delete but this should have been a release feature. Team Ups need to work like rosters and be limited to what the player has and not a random number generator assigns to a match.

The biggest flaw in the development of this game, IMO, is how they use completely separate handling for player and AI actions and abilities. This is how you end up with things like a fix for the Ares sunder bug that only fixes it on the player side, a Black Widow Espionage bug that only affects AI use, and AI teams not being prevented from having illegal teacups (this is the best autocorrect, I'm leaving it in) the player can't select.
