What's That Guy Up To?

Do you ever see an opponent with a team that just makes you say "Huh? What's that guy up to?"

Just saw a guy with 800+ points in NHB tournament fielding a level 85 Thor with something like a level 6 Hawkeye Modern and a level 25 Bulseye (don't know if those last 2 were the exact characters but it was something like that). Is he trying to tank but not too much? Is he trying to give people an easy target, but not too easy? Did he just throw that squad in to wrap up one last opponent before taking a break to heal? There's no way he made it that high with that squad. So what is his game?

I'd welcome your comments on what he may have been up to or any other wacky squads you've seen.

  • Might be that he meant to throw in a full 3 weaklings, but accidentally sent in the Thor. I've done that before, it's easy to misclick and replace the wrong guy. Or he just wanted to tank a little but not get beat down 50 times.

Guy gets to 1000 points but don't want to be first, he setup team which is easy and he hope to loose some points to be max #2

Or he is now loosing fights and you saw his last loosing team. If you retreat you loose some hit points so it is not so easy to retreat now

I also think about the same thing
  • I was saw a guy with a LV 40 Thor, LV 35-ish Hawkeye (Modern) and LV 30 X-Force Wolverine with over 700 points.

I don't know what was going on there, but it was easy points at the time.

he's an imaginative fellow, who is setting up a scenario where thor mediates a conversation between Bullseye and Hawkeye

He's trying to settle their differences the Asgard way
  • I'm guessing the influx of newbies might be due to the PC release...

Violence with a side of pain?
  • When I was newer I would start with my best teams. IE something like Thor storm c and im40 at those lower levels.
As I would progress I would only revive Thor and fill in the gaps with whoever. The person you saw may be doing something similar.

As a more experienced player that knows the last team you use stays as your defense , realized this is a silly method. Now I just keep a rotation of my top 4-7 covers depending.
  • I just messed up and did 85 Magneto with 6 bagman and 2 storm. Nobody attacked...
  • 85 Thor/25 Bullseye/6 m.Hawkeye is actually a pretty decent team, no lie. Prolly letting c.Storm heal up. Thor can single-handedly beat most 2-star teams.

Yeah, as long as you're not fighting some of the crazy 3* people, the thor can really probably put the rest of the team on his back and carry them
