How long until the top characters are nerfed?

  • From what i've read ppl are saying sentry is op due to the fast dmg he does. But most ppl are assuming everyone uses 3 ap all colors when attacking.. not everyone has that type of boost. Not everyone spends money or hp on that boost. If u take out from the equation that boost its sometime difficult to kill a team fast enough, sometimes it can take some time due to bad luck of color set on the board or the AI matching yellow and green when u need the most.

Why would they get nerfed. Because you have trouble finding a way to beat them. Nerfing characters only makes the game worse. Some characters have to be strong, if all characters were the same it would be pointless to have 2* 3* etc. Instead of nerfing everyone why not make everyone a 1* and give them the same ability. Would that make everyone happy, cause that's pretty much what your asking for. Nerfing is brought by people who cant think of a strategy or simply adjust to a situation making them to cry for a nerf.

So in conclusion d3 just make everyone a 1* and give everyone the exact same power so that we will never see another nerf thread

    Did you drop these?

Even with the iso boosts for green and yellow, its 2 green matches and 2 yellow matches to win the match, which is far better than any other character combination can muster.

Eh, if you're just talking ISO boosts, you can usually wipe a team using patchmags with 2 green, 1 blue, and 1 red match

But Patch/Mags is still slow due to animations. Sentry alone can cut through very quickly with minimal animations. The advantage is about speed. If Magneto can cast his blue and red as fast as 12 countdown tiles going off, then we can talk.

Daken/Hood are completely optional, to be honest. Sentry alone can wipe out most teams, and you'll end up spending only 1 health pack to fill him back up. Just use the freebie character and whatever other maxed 3* you have out there.
  • Why Nerf good characters when you can buff the bad ones?
Because the list with the bad characters is way longer than the list with the good ones. If we also add those with only 2 powers, the first list is several times longer. Based on their performance over the last 8 months, it is impossible for them to buff properly all the bad characters, so we are left only with the "nerf the good/OP" option, which will bring all characters to the same level. In other words, they aim to make them all equally bad. Sentry will probably be the last (once he stops making money). Then we we will surely see more team variety. Unfortunately, by that time, no one will care.

However, after you break 700, you only see a very small hand full of characters.
When are these 5 characters getting nerfed so that other characters can actually make it up into the 1000 range?

I'm probably saying what has already been said, but I have to comment because I think the very premise of this thread is incredibly flawed. The issue is not with the characters, but the point system. Currently, 700+ pts is about where many players lose more points than they gain per minute. Beyond this equilibrium point, there is only one way to progress further: shield-hopping.

Without shield-hopping, there would be no 1000+ pt game. With shield-hopping there is only one viable strategy: high offense characters, fast wins, and buying shields. Health pack usage and defensive strategies are practically irrelevant. No matter how you balance the characters, there will always be a limited number of characters that are optimal for this one strategy in a well-balanced game with multiple play strategies. That is true even if these characters are under-powered outside the 1000+ pt game.

D3 could encourage more diversity toward 1000 pts by setting the point system equilibrium more towards 1000, instead of 700 pts (at one point it was set to 400, which really sucked). IMO, that is the only real solution to your problem. I can only assume that D3 likes shield-hopping for revenue and has set the equilibrium to 700, accordingly.

TL;DR: You can nerf or buff characters all you like, but the point system and shield-hopping are really at issue here.
