OS: Android 4.4.2

Device: LG Nexus 5

For this device, the default launcher includes the ability to say "Ok Google" from any of the homepage screens. I noticed one day the detection had stopped and I couldn't figure out why so I restarted my phone. Today I noticed after playing Puzzle Quest that hotword detection had again stopped. So I opened the multitasking menu, swiped Puzzle Quest away, and hotword detection was re-enabled.

I decided to open the game back up again to see if I could repeat it--and I could.

Open app, let it load to the start page, and hit home. You will no longer be able to say "Ok Google" and have the phone detect it. Open Multitasking, swipe the game away, and you will be able to use the hotword again.

You can tell if the mic is live or not by the way the microphone on the launcher looks. If the microphone is filled in completely white hotword detection is enabled. If the microphone is not filled in completely white--hotword detection is disabled.

I'm curious as to why this would happen.
