Worst Pack Ever?
So I just bought a 42-pack in the "Category-5" Theme, and here's what I got:
Ares red
Ares green x2
Ares yellow x2
OBW blue x4
OBW purple x2
OBW black x3
Magneto 2* purple x2
Thor 2* yellow
Thor 2* green
Moonstone purple x2
Moonstone red x2
Moonstone black
Hawkeye purple x2
Hawkeye red
Bullseye black x2
Daken 2* black x1
Daken 2* purple x2
IW blue
HT 2* red x2
HT 2* green
Storm 2* yellow x2
Storm 2* black
Patch red
Cap 3* red
Cap 2* yellow x2
So...awesome?
Three golds out of 42 draws...wow...waste of money. I would have been better off just paying for an ISO-8 pack

Never, ever, ever buy tokens or, especially, packs. Ever. Under any circumstance.0

The normal odds for a golden cover are 21.8, so 3 / 42 = 7.14 is 3 times less the default value. Yes, you got owned by the RNG.
And yes, don't buy tokens unless you like to gamble.
(later edit) Checked the current values and updated correctly.0 -
Indeed, 1 x 42pack is almost the same price as buying 13 covers of your choice. I don't get the appeal.0

Way back when you could get guaranteed covers they were probably worth the price of admission but no way in hell now.
According to D3P, the removal of guaranteed covers in packs is to make the game has MORE FUN.0 -
As others said, never buy tokens/packs. Or healthpacks, for that matter.
And I hope mentioning ISO was a joke because you should never buy ISO either unless you make significantly more per hour than most people. ISO is best earned in events, Story, LRs, everything. Playing 30-40 minutes of a LR = 5k ISO.0 -

I thought I smelled something. I guess that's what fun smells like.locked wrote:And I hope mentioning ISO was a joke because you should never buy ISO either unless you make significantly more per hour than most people. Yes, it was a joke. I do earn more $$ than most, which is why I don't mind spending on a game that I enjoy and has obviously had some time and effort put into development, but I do expect at least a smile on my face after a purchase.
Well, after playing for a bit more after my first post, I decided to buy a cover pack for my son to see how he did (before returning to the forum). Here's what he got, in order:
Wolvie 4* green
IM40 yellow
BW 3* green
Wolvie 2* green
Deadpool red
Thor 2* red
Falcon purple
Storm 2* blue
Mags 3* blue
Psylocke red
Mags 2* purple
Bullseye black
Falcon blue
Hawkeye red
Deadpool purple
Mags 2* purple
OBW blue
Mags 2* purple
Deadpool red
Thor 2* red
Thor 2* yellow
Thor 2* red
Cap 3* blue
Moonstone red
Thor 2* yellow
Cap 2* blue
Cap 2* red
OBW purple
IW green
Thor 2* green
Wolvie 2* yellow
Cap 2* blue
Patch yellow
Cap 2* blue
Mags 2* red
OBW blue
Hawkeye purple
Cap 2* red
Mags 2* blue
Thor 2* green
Thor 2* yellow
Besides the abundance of Thors, I'm pretty jealous. Three Deadpools! 13 Golds! Either way, after reading these posts I agree with what's being said. As a whole, there doesn't seem to be much overall value in using that much HP when it's more efficient to use it on individual covers if the need arises.0 -

Man, you dropped a few thousand HP on your son just like that? I would say you should use that as an opportunity to tell him not to play the lottery but it clearly backfired0 -
You can buy a pair of sneakers for less than a 42 token pack.
Or in water starved places in Africa they could build over THIRTY FIVE WELLS.
Will someone please think of the children?!0 -

Well, in some eyes it may have. For me, I will never buy another pack again since they removed the guarantee. So I instead use my resources for specific covers, roster slots, and shields. I'm still having a great time, and using my resources this way is fun...so maybe they're right?0 -

Holy ****. I dropped $70 on this game for HP but at no point did I ever go to myself "Maybe I should buy that cover pack." I spent it all on a bunch of covers to get my BP to 5 Black, Thor to 5 Green, Daredevil to 5 Red, and Hulk to 5 Black. All skills that I would consider damn near essential for those characters. Grabbed like 3 or 4 more roster slots, some other miscellaneous skills, and currently sitting on the last 2500 trying to figure out what I'm going to do with it. Taking it gamble with all that HP is most certainly not the optimal way of spending it.0

Dude.. I had a 10 pack that ONLY dropped 2*s. No gold. No 3*. All Tiny Cap, Tiny Daken, , Moonstone, and Ares.0
-
I bit the bullet and bought a 42 pack in the second Deadpool event after work forced me to not be able to put time in to the initial deadpool event and I therefore got no covers. I ended up with one of each Deadpool cover (score!) and 9 additional gold covers, of which I actually needed all but 1. Even so, I can't imagine doing it again. I'm also super ISO deprived now, which is frustrating in retrospect. Sucks to hear about your first pack, but your son seemed to cash in nicely.0

That's not all that uncommon, unfortunately.0 -
My alliance mate recently opened the 10 pack reward from season 3 and got 9 moonstones and 1 3* but i can't remember what one. I've pulled 2 three stars in the last 3 months from tokens I've earned in game. It's getting a bit frustrating. LOL both of them were from standard recruit tokens. I can't even remember the last time I pulled a 3* from a heroic or special round token.0

Geez. The guy buys a 42 Pack, pulls only garbage. Complains on the forums about it. And then RUNS IT BACK.
The cojones on this one.
(the stove was slightly less hot on the second touch)
I believe they should change the drop rates for those packs. For instance for a 10 pack if the RNG gives you 9 2 Stars, it should spike the % for a 3 Star to 100 on the last cover so you get at least one. A 10 pack shouldn't have a guaranteed featured cover but a guaranteed 3 Star would be ok. The 42 Packs could have a guaranteed Cover. If you are spending so much on Covers you deserve at least 1 Mororo.(And at least 3 other 3 Stars) Thats a common strategy. If you get only garbage you get a consolation prize so you don't feel too bad.0 -
Considering the pull % is the same on 10pk to 42pk, temptation to purchase a pack would lie on the former. If/when Nick Fury is added, that's the only temptation I would then consider buying a 10pk, otherwise I'll avoid it like the plague.0
-
You could take one nick fury cover and level it up to 5 for less than the bullseyes and moonstones you'll get with a 42 pack. I bought one back in the day to get 2 rags so I could bump him up, but then they nerfed him the day after.0

Be grateful guys, all my tokens have gotten me are many, many grains of sand0
