So, how many F2Pers use HP to buy covers?

So for the first time (since maybe being forced by the tutorial) I used HP to buy a cover - Patch Yellow to be precise.

Just wondering how many other players do this.

This does mean I'm going to have to sacrifice my fully covered level 1 Yelena for Deadpool, but so be it icon_e_smile.gif

I save up hp for good covers that I need. I think I have bought about 5 or 6 3 star covers with hp I saved up. It's pretty easy to be a f2p player and still save enough hp to get covers as well as new cover slots when a new character is released if you are in a decent alliance and can place well yourself in most events.
  • I bought my first cover with HP recently as well, but i bought a hood blue not knowing there was going to be more chances so soon for that one

Well, I wouldn't say I'm in exactly a "decent" alliance, at least as far as scoring is concerned. Just a 5 player "play whenever you feel like and don't feel obligated to do anything" one. Which is pretty decent for me, because there is 0 pressure. However we rarely even get the 50HP award icon_e_smile.gif
  • I bought 2 covers for Nick Fury and probably close to 10 covers for all the other 3*s without spending any money. Some of the expenditure more than paid for themselves while the others I'm not so sure, but there's no reason to hoard HP if you're not going to use it. I've come to realize that roster slot is really a waste of HP because nobody is ever going to use all 40 characters on their roster. If not for the fact that 3*s are often essential characters in PvE and cannot be easily reacquired quickly, I could get rid of half of my 3*s and wouldn't miss them at all.
  • I spent a small amount of money on the game when I first started, in order to buy additional roster slots. Since then, I've been F2P, and my roster is solidly 3*/endgame (8 maxed out 3*s). I have bought a few covers with HP, since it's pretty easy for me to place high enough in PvP events to net HP even with a small amount of shielding, and I play enough PvE that I pull in even more from main/sub placement.

Patch Yellow is on the short list of covers that are worth purchasing with HP (I did), even if you're not one of our resident "max everything now!" whales. Patch/Daken regen is essential if you want to play on your own schedule without worrying quite as much about health packs.

I spent $20 on roster slots back at the beginning of February a week after I started the game. I haven't spent any money since. I've been using HP to buy covers of potent characters. I've bought two Daken covers, 1 Hood cover, 1 CMag cover, and 1 Venom cover for an old 1* tournament I wanted to participate in back when I started, and specific covers were a bit harder to acquire. I'm planning on buying a couple Sentry covers with the HP I've already saved up. I try to keep at least one of every character in my roster, and I only spend the HP on character cover to max out their level cap.

I do this all the time. I'm currently sitting on 6000hp, despite not buying any HP, hehe.

I've had enough hp to and considered it, but every time I realize I'm getting by just fine as is and that one cover is really not going to repay itself so I just keep my hp for new characters and shields. Now if they ever get around to making silver surfer and he looks fun to play? Sayonara hp stash.

I have been playing since December, joined an alliance as soon as alliance tourneys were a thing, we were top 100 most of the time, so loads of ISO and HP, especially by Season 2, for me. I bought 3 covers in all of my career:
yellow Hood before S1 - earliest one, brought my Hood to the coveted 5/5/3 and then max level 141. A very good investment all around and no doubt was helpful in securing other covers. Hood covers were extremely rare back then.
    yellow lazy Thor - got Thor prizes soon after that, so not much ROI but w/e, it served well in that short time;
green Sentry after S3 - got Sentry prizes, like, 2 days later, so not much ROI again but w/e.

Moral of the story: save HP for slots and shields. Covers will come eventually, especially if it's not your 5th anyway. It's never worth it to buy a 3rd/4th cover unless you can afford to go all the way to the 5th but then why not wait for the featured tourney and grab as many covers as you please?

I spent 2k HP on OBW covers before they started giving out 2* covers in PvP. It took me 62 days before I got my first blue and I didn't want to wait too long to get a useful OBW up and running.

I spent 2500 HP on 3* Daken covers when True Healing was implemented in order to make him one of my playable characters.

Currently stockpiling HP in order to make Nick Fury one of my playable characters though this one will take a very long time to accumulate the necessary HP.

Other than shielding and roster space, there isn't a lot of other things to do with the HP anyway. Buying health packs isn't an option that I'd consider so the spare HP can go towards a cover here and there.

Have not bought any covers yet. Spent $20 dollars for roster slots 195 days ago and no more since. Unfortunately I decided I want to run an alliance. So I saved up the iso and made one. Then I found out increasing alliance size was possible and that it cost hp. *sigh* so im at 40 roster spots still need capt. Marvel, Ldaken, she hulk and fury. Would also add I sold venom and yelena to make room for others and will not likely ever rebuild them unless I win one of the 20k hp giveaways they have lol.

I've come close a couple of times but I usually end up spending it on shields to get covers I need/want instead.

I didn't spend hp for cover for the moment for the same reason.
Moreover winning (random) covers is my main incentive to play the game.

However, one day I could consider buying covers for one of the characters I'd really like to finish but without success: i.e. 3*Daken, cMag & Hood. As I can't choose which one to pick, I wait! icon_e_wink.gif

edit: oh and I'm not a pure F2P as I spent nearly 30€ when I started to play (never spent real money anymore since this day)

This is the reason i always talk myself out of buying covers I know with my luck as soon as I buy something RNGesus will spite me by giving me the same thing in my next Standard Token.
  • I've thought about it a few times but never have. Knowing the way I tend to play games, I'll probably just end up never spending and adding to the hoard. If I had a character missing a cover or two and the Iso to max them out I might.
  • Never bought covers or packs. HP is more useful on shields and slots. If you need a cover badly then even shield hopping is cheaper than buying 1 cover (the cover will be a reward from the event before the character's pvp anyways). And shield hopping will get you top 5 for 4 covers with relative worth of 5000 HP.

I wouldn't pay 1250 hp for a cover if I had more money than Gates, Trump, or Obama. If they played this game and saw the 1250 price tag, they probably would go to the bank and demand extra security guards be posted at their safety deposit boxes because of all the highway robbery!

Because the rich are tight with their money.

Surprisingly I have not bought a single cover (except the heroic daily deal). I admit I do invest in the game on HP (normally during a sale). As levelling up my current fully capped characters keeps me occupied that I'm not overly fussed (for now) whether I get 3* covers I need.

In the past, my original plan was to obtain every cover, & from there purchase/upgrade the cover(s) if I ran through a dry spell.
  • I never have, and I won't unless and until they introduce the Thing. My hoard is a little over 5000 now, and I only use it for shields and roster spaces.
