Who is coming out of retirement?

In response to the recent who is quitting threads

I was kind of curious of the opposite now. We are getting DEADPOOL. The #1 most wanted character in MPQ is arriving soon. On top of that dropping the broken environmental features for a seemingly cool team up feature.

Was this enough to entice any of the more recent burnout casualties back into the game? (I know a lot of them haven't let the forums go yet) or has the game still lost the excitement?

  • Don't think this is enough of a change to bring people back.

Really, they need to be focusing on adding new game modes. Or working on some sort of long-term vision rather than trying to milk new players in the short-term. Because the population of maxed 3*s is only going to grow, meaning PvP will eventually become a slow slog if it hasn't become repetitive and stale already.

When I think of Season 5 and 6 of Starfall, BP, LT, whatever PvP, fun and exciting definitely do not come to mind. No, it's just an endless tedious treadmill

PVP is basically annoying now, seen this game for 200+ days now and they need to change for something else, maybe alliance teaming up or something.
Even a dumb iso-coin casino would be ok. I guess.

That sure sounds like exactly what they're doing with dropping the Dark Reign label and beginning to work on new additions
  • They need a mode where you can use more than 3 characters or at least let you pick your 3 characters that isn't SHIELD training. There are literally only 5 viable duos in the top tier and the only reason you see more than 5 types of team is because there are still a lot of people who don't have everyone.
  • Nope.

After playing Hearthstone for the past month, it's hard for me to ever go back to this game and playing against a dumb AI constantly.
  • If anyone who retired recently comes out of retirement for any reason in the next few weeks, then they were full of **** and being drama queens. Anyone who unretires should be mocked and then shunned for being pieces of ****.

I understand the sentiment but possibly a little overboard on this one.
  • A single player campaign might get me to log in to the game again. But I'm not particularly fussed about Deadpool (I know, the shame) or any of the other announcements.

I don't know if I'd go as far as to say it will bring people out of retirement, but I welcome these changes as positive ones. It seems like they're really making an effort recently to make the game better and continue to evolve it.
  • It's interesting that they're changing up environmental tiles, but there's no reason to think that the core game is really going to be any different for a long time.
Is anyone really thinking "What, they're releasing a new character? Now I'm excited about the game again!"

They really do need a new game mode or some sort of endgame for veterans. But since they didn't announce anything like that at the one event where they would obviously do so, it's probably not going to happen any time soon.
  • I didn't exactly "retire" as much as my phone broke and I had to swap and try and get CS to transfer my account to the new phone..... but I stopped playing either way. And no,this isn't enough to make me start up again.

Same old game shiny extra do-hicks isn't enough to bring ppl back really. of coursethats not thier goal. thier goal is to keep players and add new ones. economically its almost never worth the effort to try and make ppl play again (unless they very recently quit...usually due to a negative change and did so in mass exodus).

Honestly, faaaar more relaxed without worrying about this "game" (see: it quickly became a chore with the addition of alliances and seasons). Playing titanfall and destiny beta and dark souls and other things easily replaces and more what I lost from the game. as for "onthe road"...I've ust been reading more (and I don't mean literally driving lol...I just mean when not at home). So yea, quitting was mostly a win. That said, if they ever really made a new and interesting mode I would consider trying it at the very least....but this really isn't the type of game you come back to imo. its a very "hit it n quit it" type of game. once you decide to quit...that's it. especially as you start falling behind on all the new op characters that roll out.

I will say I would have loved deadpool 2 months ago though. And every few weeks I have jumped on the forum just to check the state of the game/forum. I think it was 2 weeks this time? Could have been 3 possibly.

either way, happy you guys finally got deadpool! Hopefully he has interesting moves and not just some boring strike rules and direct damage and a garbage heal.

all new characters do is make it take longer to max out any 3* character.

It just spreads out the rewards.

I am keeping up on the changes in this game, but man Brave Frontiers is so much fun, I have a hard time dedicating time to this again. There is so much to do in it that the endgame is a blast. Just got a rare drop that is letting me build a crit team which should be awesome. There are huge variances in the types of teams you can build and you are not severely limited in character choices. I have spent more on BF than I did on MPQ and I don't feel like I got screwed every time I spend money which should be something MPQ pays attention to. Perceived value is important.

I see the suggestion posts are still coming from the new generation who are not yet jaded enough to have given up on being listened to, but none of these new announcements are anything people have asked for with the notable exception of Deadpool who feels a bit like a hail mary. It still feels like a chore when I join new events, so maybe I have not had enough of a break to make it fun again yet.
  • Deadpool? I'm more excited about TU. TU fundamentally changes the way you play the game. Deadpool alone is just the same game with a new character. The same game where Spidey is shite.

^I tried Brave Frontier but it didn't grab my attention. I'm a fan of jrpgs so maybe that spoiled me. I'd rather just play a classic/rerelease again over Brave Frontier. Maybe I like mpq as much as I do because I wasn't a fan of the puzzle quest games in the first place.
