Brightness on PC version

I just got my accounts linked so I've started playing via Steam, but I can't help but think that the PC version feels overly bright. All the colors are washed out, there's very little contrast on the characters and menus and there's no way to adjust this manually. All my other games look balanced, so it's not my monitor. I would prefer to play on PC if given the choice, but right now it's just so ugly and hard to look at. Is there no way this can be toned down?
