Can you gain points while shielded by winning defensively or does no one fight you?

Short answer is yes. Any team that alway had you in their queue can still attack you. Also, any team you defeated can fight a retaliation against you. If you get a defensive win against either of those two groups, you will gain points. Likewise, if you lose any fights while shielded, you will not lose any points.

Yes you can gain point with defensive wins.
Your opponent must have queued you before you raise your shield though.
