Broke Back Alliance

Some of you have seen my posts. I usually try to keep things fun and light. I often try to give you a chuckle, but not today. A really big straw broke this camel's back today.

Last week my alliance lost two members that were big contributors and two of my favorite people on the team to pressure burnout. I scrambled to replace them and got some good players in. Today, I open up a message from another member that is also someone I really like saying that they don't think they can hang anymore. Being a founder and recruiter of an alliance isn't very fun. Juggling 20 personalities and needing minimum scores to stay relevant aren't things I considered when creating DevastationInc.

As a good friend told me " I just wanted to play a Bejeweled game with Wolverine in it." So I have put in my notice and am leaving to go solo when they find a replacement. I always wondered why so many really good players "retire" after a relatively short time playing. I totally understand now. Any of you considering telling me to stop my whining may want to think twice. You may be saying goodbye sooner than you think.
I still enjoy the forums and reading all the thoughts of you good people, so I think I will still stick around here.

I completely understand why you're deciding to go Solo. I was in a "top-tier" alliance for a while and the pressure to perform is almost unbearable. I actually got kicked because I barely played in ONE pvp event. When I logged on and saw that I was removed I actually laughed and had a sigh of relief. It gave me an excuse to not care as much, as well as it made me realize that I wasn't playing for my own enjoyment. I was playing for my alliance, who in the end dumped me because I didn't perform well in 1 event when I had been consistently putting up good scores until that point.

Now, I play for myself. I joined a random alliance just for bonus ISO/HP on the side, but I'm no longer pressured to play when I don't want to or at inconvienent times. The 1 extra cover isn't worth it IMO. I'd rather enjoy this game and play on my terms , rather than play because I feel like I have to.

I am not a comander in an alliance and the pain you are going through now is the reason I don't want to be one. I would suggest rather than going solo is seeing if someone else wants to be a comander and recruiter for your alliance. You might be able to get 2 people who want to run the alliance and then you can stay and still be apart of the group you started. You would still be able to chat with them and help out others with your experience but you would not be "in charge" of the alliance. I feel for everyone who has to run an alliance as it is like having a full time job that you have to pay to be apart of. I hope you can have someone else in your alliance helps you out and you don't have to leave the other 16 people in your group. icon_cry.gif

While I like your idea, the alliance has certain rules and guidelines in order to stay competitive. I may not always want to follow the guidelines anymore. I wouldn't want to hold the team back from doing well if they could have someone else in there that really wants to compete.

I understand and sympathize with your pain but I have to say, this isn't what I thought the topic would be about based on the title

It made you read it though, right? I like to have fun with the titles of my posts even if the content isn't very chipper.

Was expecting a little more 'I wish I knew how to quit you' if you know what I mean. icon_cool.gif
But seriously, if you want to join the XStatIIX no pressure alliance let us know! Limee can handle all the stress.
  • The pain you are feeling is why my Alliance (The Main Cell) is what I like to call Newbie friendly.

We only hve one rule. you need to play at least 1 match every 3 days. or inform us of an extended leave.

We only had to boot a few people that did not follow this, 2 of them we bieleve left due to the true healing thing.

Sure you will probibally never see us in the top spots, but we play at our own pase.
  • alliances are great. whether you want to be a slacker, competitive or just plain crazy. you are always able to find an alliance that align with your goals.

Will second noob's offer if you're interested. Also would like to thank you for helping out our alliance while you were a member for however long that was. You helped make us the top 100 mainstay (for the most part) that we've been the past several months, and for that I am very appreciative. It's sad to see you go, but certainly understandable. Hope to see you around the forums/game still.

I don't know what else I can add to what Noob and Mohio have already said. You were one of the earliest members of XStatiX so if you wanted to join XStatIIX for a much more stress free alliance then that would be great. Contact me and I can sort something out.

Thanks for the offers, but I got into a 0 expectation alliance with some other burnout friends of mine called Burnouts Inc If we play, cool, if we don't, whatever.

Was sad to see you go Heaka, but I think there were quite a few of us that were on the edge and just needed the push. It was fun hanging with you, learned a ton from you Jonathan, etc. and wish I could join you all in Burnout, but I understand why Jack has it closed.

Have fun and see you around.
