roster slots

I saved all my HP for roster slots, but I'm now thinking I over did it. I have 27 slots, but no maxed 3* yet. Feeling a bit like I **** myself by having only one maxed 2* (Thor). How has everybody else been spending HP rewards?

  • I spent all my Hero Points on slots too. I don't see how that is a waste. I only regretted not getting as much as I could before, since I lost a few covers as a result. Sold my bagman too.

I'm guessing the most worth it would be to save and buy rare covers, for a specific character, once you have all slots. 1250 HP per cover >_<
  • I only buy as many as I need, but I always keep at least a 500 HP reserve for emergency slots.
  • My goal is 29 slots, I'm at 28. Then I'll just stockpile HP until I need more slots. Or considering that slot prices have been raised before, perhaps buy the slots as soon as I can. In any event, all HP to slots.
  • My only regret is that I held onto worthless characters in an effort to have a 'complete collection'. But since they raised the prices of slots, it's a pointless exercise. So, instead of spending 300+ HP on slots for the latest characters, I should have just deleted Yelena, Bagman and most my one-star characters instead.

I would have gotten much more use out of 2 more blue Spidey covers than whatever random tournaments those characters would be required in.
  • I haven't spent any HP on skills. At the beginning I always kept a cover slot free, and if I had spare HP above that I'd spend it on Heroic cover packs. Once the number of covers I had no use for increased, it became less worth it to buy cover packs.
I've got 28 cover slots at the moment.

Everything else can be obtained by playing as far as covers go. Slots are precious and what you should spend your HP on. I spent all of my HP on opening 29 slots from the beginning and I never had to not take a cover I received.

I used HP to level Rag's red skill twice after I got the first card in a lucky draw. I got another lucky draw at 4/5 to finish him off while saving HP for that last level. I never regretted it, even though it meant I sold off most of my 1-stars and even a few 2-stars a long time ago. I've since received and sold off two more Red Rags, so I guess I could feel robbed, but honestly I've gotten so much use out of Rag that I don't regret it.

19 slots total, so I run a pretty skeleton crew. For example, I thought I'd be completely uncompetitive in the Bad is Good tourney b/c the only dark avengers I still have are Rag and Moonstone (and she's prob next to go on the chopping block if I need a slot). Somehow I still managed a top 10, though. Crazy.
  • I had 19 for a long time, and caved and bought a 20th after getting 5 modern hawkeye covers first day of the Hunt. Kept 4 1-star characters in case of another 1-star tourney and sold the rest. They'd need a 200% boost to come close to being as powerful as a 3-star guy.
  • Don't worry kripton, you did it right. You might feel weaker now but you're going to be able to keep most of the covers you pull and you'll have to waste less time in the future getting the covers you would have been selling.
  • i wish i had done something similar when i first started. i ended up dumping a bunch of covers (about 9 daken covers) before realizing roster spots were so important. so don't be sad, treasure those spots you got.

This. We tell people all the time not to be covers, save HP for slots. It is tempting when you have tons of characters that need more covers, but tokens fall like rain, and you will eventually get the covers you need, AND have places to put the rare pulls.
  • More agreement here. Save your HP for slots until you have more slots than there are covers currently available. Otherwise you'll be kicking yourself when some tournament comes up and you cannot even compete because you deleted the "useless" covers that are necessary.

Which is what I'm doing right now. I'm not able to compete in the Bad is Good event, and I just keep thinking of all of the dark avengers covers I sold because I didn't think I'd ever use them.
  • +1 for buying cover slots. That's where most of my HP has gone. I did spend some on one level of red for Rag. I've also made some dumb choices with it when I had accumulated a bit of excess.

My general approach to the game has been breadth rather than depth, lots of mid-level characters rather than a handful of high-level.

That said, if you have a decent set of covers and time to put into the game, HP can generally be gained in not too much time. IIRC, in a bit over two weeks I've gone from not having enough HP to buy cover slots for the Doom cover daily reward or the Hood cover I pulled from a token, to having slots for both of them and 1000+ HP accumulated. So if you really want to spend a bit on power upgrades, it can be recovered.

My question is shall I invest in cover slots now than later? Currently I have 25 covers/slots (basically all occupied), until I obtain a new cover, I haven't spent my HP.

Have space for all the covers you want to have. It saves you the stress of scrambling.
