What is up with these people in lightning rounds?

For lightning rounds, there's a contest every 2 hours. You would think that there would be less competition as a result, but on the contrary, the competition is most intense here.

For most other contests, I found it not to difficult to end up on the top 200 lists. For the lightning round, I'm not aiming for the top prize. My chars are weak capped commons, and uncommons still in training. All I am aiming is a spot in the top 100, so that I can get a token to train my incomplete uncommons. And I have always failed to get a spot in the top 100. It's impossible to take 5 mins without getting attacked at least once. And even when I hit 300 score (my highest ever), I still end up like #120+.

And I see guys like Dumdumdugn get like 400 score in the first half hour, and I'm like **** how is that even possible. (I'm guessing he's using Rag and spamming 2AP red.)

I can understand the rare covers are highly sought after. But this is insane. I can't even get a Heroic token, and I'm working my **** off fighting non stop for 1.5 hrs. At least 200 veterans are on every 2 hrs fighting tooth and nail to get the covers.

If I can't even get a token right now, I can only imagine how impossible it would be to get a rare Bad Guy cover in future.

  • I tank the rounds i don't want to compete in to make the rounds i want to compete in easy. That's the key. And it's some rags and some mags. Rags to kill fodder but mags does the real damage against higher hp teams.
  • Yea, if you tank your ranking, you can easily get 200 points without even breaking a sweat. From there it's all about getting wins as quickly as possible and having a one or two buffed characters that will scare some attackers away.
  • Try the Loki and Doom rounds first. They aren't as hotly contested (and the Hood rounds work a it differently). If you're still having trouble, try at off-peak times.
  • With high level buffed characters and boosts, these matches are very quick and most are under a minute. Sometimes it takes more time to set up the battle than the actual battle.

The trick here is to skip until you get someone worth at least 15 points.

Also, I always fight in the jungle because thorned rose speeds up matches and forest fires from buffed Crits are instant wins.

Unfortunately for new players, people with high level characters tend to get less retaliations because it takes too long to take down high level characters.

That's kinda what I do. No way I can rack up 400 points in just 2hrs like you did though. >_<

BTW, are you a paid player? For a player like me, getting to your level seems almost impossible....
  • BTW, what do you guys mean by tank your rank?

I spent a few dollars early on on cover space, thats it. I'm sitting on 50k isos and 4k HP

send out the bag man squad to have people attack you. You then get matched with easier opponents.

Before I had a red Rags I'd pretty much do that... with a red Rags it's pretty much a question of elimination -- do they have a mid or high level Rags? Do they have a high level 3* villain (Loki and Hood need not apply)? Do they have Daken (passive slows things down too much)?

If the answer to all of the above is no then they get killed. I don't care how many points. They're not going to retaliate, not against a high level Rags and mid level Mags.

I got to top 2 in both the Mags and Rags round making mostly 8-12 points off every single match. Most matches are done in 3 turns or less. Without any boosts. Some matches that don't offer quick red do drag on though. I do use boosts in the last 15-30 minutes of the tournament -- then they're usually over in 1 or 2 rounds.

Environment doesn't matter either, not in those few of turns. Although I consider Jungle the most dangerous, since an AI Thorn Rose can lead to large amounts of damage to my team.

If you do not have a mid/high level red Rags then I fully agree with what you said -- that's pretty much how I played it until I got lucky with a Diabolical token.

  • My girlfriend started to play 2-3 days ago and she told me she got a diabolical token from lightnings with 10 level m.storm and 20 level ironman 35.

I was thinking opposite all the time but the game is actually seperating brackets closely so everyone can have a shot.

Note : She got a red rag lol. Girls always more lucky.
  • I hate it when my girl gets her red rag.
  • I'm done with Mags and Rag. So I won't be contesting the rounds. In fact, I'm pretty much done with the Lightning Rounds, maybe a Doom Cover and the Hood, so I'm just in for the 100 point and i'm out and I tank it so you guys get free points of me.

    What, no love for Loki?
