Huge characters in 'Fresh Cut'. (Lvl1905 Jugg!)

I drew 'dioayala' from alliance 'The Swag' in fresh cut... This player somehow is fielding a lvl60 (presumably loaner) psylock that is backed up with lvl 1,905 juggernaut and 1,905 black widow (1-star).

Not sure how they managed it. The first match screen only shows 3-digit levels. I thought the 2 characters were level 190, which I though was glitchy enough, but they are actually 10x that size.

I would almost bet that player has 1100 points in fresh cut from defensive wins from people thinking they are hitting 2x190 characters, and realizing too late that it is 2x1905)

Anyone who is curious about a level 1905 jugg's stats?

Black: 952
Somehow headbutt is only listing as doing 1100 damage but that almost can't be right... Doesn't matter, that tandem hits all 6 colors and can match-3 most players to death.

You thought letting scaling go to 400 was bad!?!?

He's been at it for hours, and the lack of action from the devs is disturbing.
Ergo, nobody is actually monitoring the game, so they never know when something is going terribly wrong.
  • The dev's will eventually get to it. They have enough with comic-con coming up. Give it time and he will be sandboxed. In the meantime just skip him and keep it moving
  • They're in my list too. I took some screenshots but I've seen them called out in multiple places now so I won't file a ticket...yet.

You should definitely file a ticket, unless you're certain many others have as well. This is the officially recommended action.

I filed a ticket on this guy.

I included two shots, one of him at 1444 in Fresh Cut with the 60-190-190 team and one of his roster which included level 404 MBW, Jugs, CHawkeye, etc., and highly leveled versions of X-Force, CMags, and Hulk.

They claimed in the past that this kind of thing was a bug related to the level-up they did a few weeks back, but this particular guy's roster seems obviously hacked.

    Thanks!

This player was banned before the first post in the thread, but if you've already downloaded a match against them, we can't reach into your phone to delete it without introducing additional delays between each of your PvP matches.

    Chain of events:
    - Player cheats
    - A few minutes pass
    - You download a match against them and add it to your local queue of matches
    - Cheat is detected and player is banned
    - More time passes
    - You play the match against them
  • Thanks!

Thanks. Do you have the capacity to have the system automatically look for people who have characters above their maximums, to prevent this sort of thing from happening in the future?
  • Those tickets requesting help or support from D3/demiurge do oooooh-so much icon_rolleyes.gificon_rolleyes.gificon_rolleyes.gificon_rolleyes.gif

Uhmm... If that particular chain of events contains no synch point whatsoever between your local queue and the server, which could be used to filter out banned cheaters already in your queue, then what is preventing cheaters from hacking the local opponent data instead of their local player data and then playing against opponents with substantially lowered levels?

The net effect is the same; the hacking cheater will have a substantially higher level than the opponent and will steamroll through, but as it does not adversely impact the other player (by putting up lvl 1000+ character to fight against) it won't have any players report the cheaters, making detection substantially harder. Near impossible if they pick 'reasonable' fights and manage to mask the data modification well enough (e.g. by changing things back when the match ends and the win is communicated to the server).

I guess it all goes back to ground-rule number one of security in distributed computing: "Never trust the client."

Sadly that ground-rule seems to not be part of game developers' staple curriculum. Possibly it has something to do with the fact that games are built console-centric or device-centric nowadays and the powers that be mistakenly assume that, as those are 'closed systems', they are automatically immune to cheating & hacking. (They'd be very, very wrong.)
