Game starts in landscape mode on a tablet

The problem is that the game starts in landscape mode, BUT it uses only in the middle 1/3 of the display. And I'm not even able to press the settings button just the start, and after I start the game I cannot press the forward and fast forward buttons...
No matter if I allow or disable the automatic display turning mode, there is no way it would start normally in portrait mode.

The tablet is a Wayteq xTab 9, with stock android 4.2.2.

Any ideas?
