Proposed alternative to buffed "guest" character(s)

The intent behind select buffed characters was to encourage using the character and building different teams around it. Of course, with the buff comes insane health, one shot abilities, and obscene critical damage.

Perhaps a better option would instead be to have the guest character have a 4/4/4 build at max attainable level for 2 stars, and a 3/3/3 build at max attainable level for 3 stars.

This takes care of the horrible buff mechanic, gives a feeling of how that character operates without giving the players who already have a higher level an even bigger bonus, but still allows those with a higher level character to benefit. Of course, the benefit gap is still there, but it narrows the gap by a large margin, therefore, giving a fair and more evened out chance for all players.

  • IceX has said that raising their level would cause newer players to only end up using the guests and it'd get boring. I think some kind of level normalization would work though.

I couldn't agree more about the abilities though.
  • Now see, I don't think that would be a bad thing though. The way it stands now, the converse is true, I believe. What "veteran" player isn't trying to focus all the blue into a buffed IM40 for essentially a one shot team kill?

And the poor "have nots" are sitting there not really having a proper chance to compete, which widens the player gap even further.
  • I still maintain that the buffed crit multiplier needs to go.

You're right... but it's so much fun!
  • I would give them a level 45 guest. Remove crit multiplier, keep environmental multiplier. Have it as a 3/3/3.

    but...but...but... Forest Fire!
  • I think the intent is to motivate people to purchase packs to try and get a good version of the boosted character. That's why there's always an accompanying special pack with an enhanced or guaranteed chance of pulling the boosted character. Providing a high level guest would eliminate most of the incentive to purchase these packs. I don't disagree that there's room for improvement, but any suggestion needs to preserve the underlying incentive to get players to buy packs.
