Bad alliances
So I was a part of an alliance called emadateam. In the last couple days before the season event finished they kicked me. I had no idea because I was unable to play and make it on. I had a season score of 7654, which put me solidly in around the middle of the pack and in previous PVP events I had gotten good rankings making a couple times into the top ten for the PVP event and around the top 5-8 for the team. We were solidly set in the 50-70 range for PVP season unless a player quit. Now as I said I was unable to play but I couldn't get on (I play on my laptop) so I couldn't tell my alliance this, because my alliance refused to make any sort of effort in talking outside of MPQ, even though the issue of not being able to communicate with the alliance was a topic brought up a few times. Any ideas about using group chat apps or anything like that were always ignored, with the commanders saying they had sent requests into D3 for a better chat, which they felt was good enough, even though we have no idea if or when any chat improvements will be made in MPQ.
I admit I wasn't able to do anything in the last couple PVP events, but I had a good season score and I had always done well before that in my alliance and got along with the members. Even with all that effort I put in though I didn't recieve any of the alliance prizes for the season (which emadateam got Nick Fury in). All because my alliance kicked me in the last couple days of the event. I think this is very unfair, my alliance had always said they wanted everyone to at least have 5000 score and in the last month of the event wanted everyone to have at minimum 7000, both of these I had met. There was no reason for them to kick me, some might say because I hadn't been active in the last couple of events that should be reason enough, which would be true, if I hadn't constantly done well in all previous events and didn't have the score I did. If my alliance was struggling to stay in the top 100 it would also be reasonable for them to kick me, but they had a solid spot in the 50-70 range, possibly even better than that since we had a couple new players join who had very high season scores.
I am upset and angry by this because all the time and effort I put into this game not just for myself but for my alliance is now wasted. I see nothing for my effort.
So I am calling emadateam out, for their poor effort in communicating with the team and for the commanders not caring about the players only the prizes. For not listening to team members and for the commanders only caring about themselves and not about the team. With the way you play and lack of communication I doubt you will make it into the top 100 again in any coming season events.

Seems harsh. All I can say is that there seems to have been a few warning signs, particularly the groups lack of communication. Can't do much about it now, but next time join one that communicates well, and makes it clear what the rules are for kicking people etc. As an example, our Alliance uses FB as well as in-game chat and has a sign-in thread for events. If you don't sign in, then you could be kicked if your points are low. Everyone knows where they stand.0

I was thinking for a little while about leaving this alliance but since we were so close to the end of the event I decided to stick around because I didn't want to screw them over by suddenly leaving. Seems the same kind of respect couldn't be shown to me. Well the alliance wanted people to have a certain amount of points each pvp but they were pretty lenient about it since a few people finished under it (though of course a couple of those people were commanders). If my alliance had been very strict and clear from the start and communicated well then I wouldn't have had a problem. But they didn't.
Hopefully now though I can find a good alliance that actually communicates well. That's all I want now a good alliance that talks well amongst themselves and who has a chance of finishing in the top 100.0 -
If you can stand the crazy, I believe the Djangos are on the hunt for new people to help and/or terrorize.0

I don't know the situation in your alliance - and it does seem like they should have focused more effort to communicating outside of the game. But leading an alliance in this game frankly sucks, so I want to throw out some thought for players who haven't had to consider things from that perspective.
First off, the gap between the 50th and 100th alliances is not very large. We had a few slackers in our alliance who played poorly in the last event or two and seriously endangered our Fury cover. We swiftly slipped from 60th rank to 90th.
You said:and for the commanders not caring about the players only the prizes.
But pretend you weren't the one with problems. You joined the alliance and put in a strong effort all month long, and someone stops performing at the end and your rank starts falling precipitously. What do you want your alliance to do - lose the Fury cover for EVERYONE, including both the 18 to 19 people who worked hard for it AND the persons with issues, or kick the underperformer and guarantee the cover to your alliancemates? If you're talking about loyalty, I'm sure you would say "If I was really endangering my alliancemates' chance at a Fury cover, I'm glad they kicked me."
Maybe your alliance leaders are just ****. But the way things are set up right now, you can't really "be nice" to any of your players without simultaneously "being mean" to your other players.0 -
I'm with Zifna here. 7000 points won't put you middle of the pack, it will put you at the very bottom; we ended up 95th, just 400 points from 100th, with an average of 8300 points per player, our top scorer over 15k and our top 8 beating 10k.
If I have to choose between losing the prize for 19 players and kicking out a player but saving up the whole alliance I would kick out the one guy in a heartbeat.
Still, the major issue here is non-comunicating properly what the alliance expectations are, so that you know what you're into. I feel for you being dumped like that, you deserved at least an explanation and at best a chance to improve your score.0 -

Maybe not very bottom bu low for sure. 7k exactly matches my completely casual score (the amount keeps me surprized really). My alliance made #50 (most time spending around #55). We have 6 players around 7k, one with 2500 and the lowest of the others are over 10k. Up all the way to 15k. (198k total score putting the average to 10).
I'd think most of the alliances just don't have enough cushion to pass an opportunity to switch in a 10k+ point player in last days and bet a plenty of such were announcing themselves for the Fury cover.
Certainly I'd still expect clear communication and other stuff, just offered some data points to show the performance is not really top-worthy as a baseline.0 -

You all had to get together somehow. If it was the forum, did you try pm'ing them?
Also, from their perspective without receiving communication, it may have looks like you did the min and were then just I tying back and letting everyone else do the hard work to keep alliance score up.
I'm not saying it's right BC it sucks, but at the same time, it's not exactly their fault either that you were unable to get on mpq.0 -

Alliance discussions always bemuse me. I only started one pretty late because I was curious about what this alliance thing was and then people appeared in it. But we're all casual sorts of noobs and we're more like 4 people who happen to share a group name rather than a team.
I like it that way, can't take the pressure of expectations with my schedule/timezones. Kind of a surprise to see this discussion of season scores and realise my score is 8920 and over 50% of my total alliance score. Lol.
Maybe I should stick everyone in my team as commander and abandon ship to look for a bigger alliance...0 -
So if someone joins an alliance in the last five minutes, their entire season score is attributed to that alliance?0
-
I don't feel bad for you at all because you joined a cheater alliance.0

avs962 wrote:So if someone joins an alliance in the last five minutes, their entire season score is attributed to that alliance?
Yes, any alliance score is counted just by the actual composition as the event ends.
(Barring some bugs hitting between event end and prize delivery, in some cases the state at that later point got considered, not sure if it was fixed or not in the meantime).0 -

So I did write a reply here but something went wrong and it messed up lol. The overall point of it though was, my alliance had problems in the past with communication, I brought up numerous times about group chat apps but they would just ignore it or say no one would use it, other players suggested the idea but again ignored or told no one would use it. In the end I know I have some fault in this, but the alliance I was in was also at fault too.0 -

In my alliance it did. I could have dropped lower while I was unable to play. But the lowest players were still around the 6500 range when I last played, one of them was a commander as well. But I do see your point there. I had on a few occasions tried to get my alliance to use group chat apps or pretty much anything we could use to talk outside of the game. Yet they never would and they never gave any real reasons as to why they didn't want to.
*edit* my score was **** I can admit when I am wrong. I was just angry and frustrated because I just wish I had known and been given the chance to improve or find another alliance.0 -
Just looked at the S3 result thread, 189k was the score needed for top100. Providing average of 9450. Average of 7k would not be good by far.0

Indeed it wouldn't have been. I can admit my mistakes. I am just hugely disappointed because I had put a lot of effort into this game, and had the alliance listened and found means to contact us outside of the game I would have been notified about needing to pick up the pace found a way to keep playing and kept my score up.
In the end I'm just angry and frustrated. This game has annoyed me so much over the last few months but I stuck it out for my alliance because I didn't want to leave them high and dry during the season. It got to the point where it felt like a job needing to plan my life around this game and find times to play (I'm a steam player so I can't play while I'm out of the house).0 -

I never knew. I think he was there for a little bit when I first joined but that was in season 2, by 3 I don't think he was there anymore. No one ever said anything about him being a cheater though so I had no clue.0
