Simple fix, but useful in my mind.

Could the top 2 and bottom 2 players on the leaderboard be removed and replaced with the next 2 prize cutoffs both top and bottom?

For example, prizes are for 11-25, 26-50, 51-100, 101-150 and I am ranked 90th

With this change, you could see how much you have to grind to the next 2 prize levels as well as how secure you are from the next 2 levels down

Could you rephrase your idea? I've read over your post a few times and I'm not sure I quite understand what you want to have done.

As I read it, the leaderboard would cut back on showing the people around you in rank to show you where the nearby prize cutoffs are. That way, you'd know what you needed to crack top 25, for example, or stay in top 250.

This is a clean way to organize a suggestion that has come up before. Knowing how many points it takes to beat someone 3 ranks ahead of you is not useful information if you are both at 87 and 90 respectively. You are both in the top 100. Knowing how many points to get to the top 50, and top 25 would let you know how much work it would take to move to a different reward tier. And knowing the cutoff for the ranks below you let you know what kind of score you need to maintain to stay where you are.
Past suggestions were to be able to see the points needed for each prize tier but this method would incorporate all that information into the current UI without needing to update much else at all.

Sounds cool. What I'd prefer at least for the 500 man pvp tournaments is scrolling the whole list of names. I don't know how much ram would be needed but it would be nice none the less

I remember IceEX said that the scrolling leaderboard would severly crash their servers and it has crashed other games servers that have a scrolling leader board. I like the idea of a third tab showing the names and scores at the cutoff points. I think it will be more usefull for someone who is aiming for top 50 and has a 1-2* roster. Most strong 2* rosters and rosters in transition and 3* rosters are aiming for top 10 worst case top 25 so seeing the top 10 is an easy way to see where you need to go. If I am out side the top 50 becuase I actually went to sleep and I don't shield I just look at top 10 and say "tinykitty I have a long way to go!!"
