31 Lazy Days (Or, What I Did in MPQ On My New iPhone)
So I've been around for a bit now, playing on my desktop and progressing slowly through improving my roster, but a month ago I was pretty much forced to upgrade my old dependable flip phone to an iphone 4s (it was free, they were practically begging me to sign up and take it as I'd been out of contract since the late 90's) so even though it's not the latest in tech, I've joined the 21st century when it comes to phones.
First thing I did was install MPQ, of course. God, it's horrible to play on a tiny screen, let me tell you. the PC version certainly spoils you for screen space.
But anyways, I played on the phone with a new account for a total of (as of today) 31 days. A full month. I decided to give myself a few rules.
1) No cash input. What I get through the game is what I have. No buying anything with real money.
2) No opening tokens until I have a total of 250 of them, no matter what type they are. Nope, no matter how tempting, NO tokens. It's not as if I'd have the roster space for 100+ Bagman/Yelena covers anyway, right?
3) Only play for 45 minutes a day at the most.
Turns out, it makes the game very different. Because I've limited myself to not opening tokens, it means the characters I've earned (through the prologue missions and various event progressions) have to be weighed as to whether it's worth keeping or not. First time around, I kept every hero, pending, pending, pending, until just before they expired purchased a few roster slots in the fear that I'd NEVER SEE THEM EVER EVER EVER AGAIN. I didn't know any better. This time around, the herd was culled. Juggernaut? Jugged ham. Yelena? Yell-no-sir! Venom? Vermin. Bagman? Ummmm yeah, no.
The low play-time per day meant that I had to juggle between prologue progression (HP hunting to buy roster slots) and poking at events to see if I could actually achieve anything from them. And surprisingly, I did. Not MUCH, of course, because I wasn't trying. I was being lazy. I was relaxing into the game, rather than trying to "beat" it. It was actually kinda fun.
Observations though:
a) Buying roster slots 3 at a time is a STUPID idea. When you have a new cover and only have a week before it expires, as a new player you are scrambling to grub up HP as quickly as possible.
b) The prologue sections are actually kinda fun when not heroic - and they really should add episodes to it one day soon. I haven't got all the rewards from it yet, but I will.
The Roster, as of close of the 31st day, consists of:
IM35 - 5-5-3, Level 50
MStorm - 5-5-3, Level 50
IM40 - 0-1-1, Level 43
MBWidow - 5-5, Level 40
GSBWidow - 1-0-0, Level 40
She-Hulk - 0-0-1, Level 40
MohawkStorm - 0-1-0, Level 40
CStorm - 1-2-3, Level 39
ThorNow! - 2-3-0, Level 38
OBWidow - 0-3-1, Level 31
MCapAmerica - 3-1-0, level 31
CHawkeye - 5-5, level 24
DAvengersDaken - 2-0, level 22
AWolverine, 0-2-0, level 22
MHawkeye, 1-1-1, Level 18
With one open slot, and a Falcon cover soon to be incoming from Shield season 3 progression.
Not the best of rosters, but it's serving its purpose right now.
Of course, I'm left with...
134 Standard Tokens
11 Heroic Tokens
2 Simulator Tokens
1 Hollowpoint Kiss Token
1 Hotshot Token
3 Dark Avengers Heroic Tokens
6 ISO-8 Brotherhood Tokens
1 Doctor's Orders Token
1 Trial By Combat Token
2 Juggernaut Heroic Tokens
1 Blind Justice Token
1 Army of One Token
for a total of 164 tokens saved so far, with more prologue to grind and more events to push...
It's certainly been relaxing.

^ I was always curious whether or not special event tokens would expire once the event finished, i guess your post answer my question...
Also, i definitely agree that having to open more than one slot at a time is pretty annoying for newer players... i have a few friends who were complaining about this just recently and saying how its actually more difficult to open slots when you aren't exactly making all that much HP in the beginning...0 -

Yup, they used to expire and turn into heroic tokens, but a change was made a few months back where they were locked in instead.
I'm starting to get to the point where 300 in a pvp is quite doable and 400 (for 25 HP) is a reasonable stretch goal on this account, so hopefully I'll be able to get some more spots open this...month. Lol. Really though, I'm only playing it in the bathroom and I still play my normal account (albeit with lots of waiting for heal-timers because I can't use OBW to heal during the match anymore....bleh) so I'm trying not to be too worried about it. It was a silly change and they should feel silly for it.0
